hey guys... anyone notice the price drops on the sammy player lately? i checked today and i think it was at $712. think they know something we dont or is sammy dropping the price knowing better products will be out soon.

This is an amazing deal folks. Cost on this thing is $687!

with shipping it comes to $735

Also with the DTS fix available via firmware update now, and the picture softness later this month, this may be the BD player to beat! Plus this thing operates like a normal DVD player, not a clunky HTPC like the HD-A1/XA1 toshiba HDDVD players.

If your on the fence, this may be the time to jump in and have some fun!

I thought that the new players include the NR fix already.

If there is more sharpness to be had from the unit I have currently, it will be really interesting...

Price drop is quite fast from its original USD$1000.

When was this player first released? July?

That's quite fast. If prices go down three months, then expect another price drop for this one by Christmas time.

The deal is getting more attractive.

And unfortunately the negs are for $7-13 items. There's no way I'd trust this guy with $500!

Cool, definitely looking forward to your review of this player.

If I wind up not getting a PS3 at launch, I may very well end up buying the Samsung (if I can get it for around $500) as a stop gap measure pending G2 BD players and price drops.

I already have one here that I borrowed and I believe that it is the NR fixed version.

I kinda hope that the eBay one is the older one so that I can compare and comment.

But I can always reverse the charge if it does not... haha

Edit: Crap - he is no longer registered - that is not a good sign.

Turns out eBay shut him down because he doesn't have a tax id.

He refunded the buyers and relisted the boxes on a different auction site.

So nothing is lost but I am not getting a player as it stands currently.

Since when do you have to have a Tax ID to sell on eBay?

Apparently there is a threashold - if you sell more than a certain amount they want a tax ID.

In any case, I think that the new place he listed them does not give me the confidence I would like. So I will probably pass on trying again for one of these units.

Makes complete sense. The people who are anxious to get HD get their player for $1,000, then they lower the price for the other people to get them to buy and because of increased production. Good marketing tactics.
