Blu-ray Archduke

I wish all movies had pictures of actor as well as their names in the credits, like the credits of Top Gun and Platoon. Because there are some times I can't put a face to a name and having a picture of the actor or actress solves that problem always.

Cell phone + google/IMDB makes that extremely unnecessary.

It's very rare that movies nowadays have the actor and actresses picture shown during the end credits anymore. You can go to IMDB (Internet Movie Database) to see the entire cast picture with their real name and character's name.

Showing the actors is akin to a curtain call at the end of a play. It's a cool way to end particular kinds of movies, like Beauty and The Beast as mentioned above, which was very artfully done. Some animated films, such as Zootopia, will show the scenes of the character along with the name (if not the face) of the voice-actor. That's always fun.
But... I can't see it as a welcome idea for most movies though, maybe in comedies it would work, but not so much in dramas or horror. Many movies end on a striking final scene that leaves an impression and I think it would ruin the end of the film to have it followed by pictures or scenes of the actors from what was already shown. It would break that spell. Besides, actors should service the story not the other way around. The best performances are ones from actors who disappear into their roles. Sometimes a bit of mystery is good ...and there's always the internet. Last edited by acroyear2; 04-15-2017 at 11:51 AM. |

Yeah, I really like it too. It seems like it was way more common in the '80s.

I like how Vudu has the faces of everyone involved with the movie in their user interface (except for a few that they couldn't get pictures for.) After a movie on that ends I usually look through the cast and crew to see what other movies they've done.
