This is one I've been meaning to watch, but have held off in hopes that it would get a Blu-ray release. Well, looks like that issue is finally solved. Looking forward to this.

It's one of the purtiest damn movies ever made...filmed in the Colorado Rockies, nearly ever scene is a feast for the eyes. Never has landscape served a more vital purpose in a Mann movie than here, IMO.

Another psychologically-masterful performance by Stewart with the great Ryan as his shades-of-gray foil.

My one lament is that it just barely missed the advent of widescreen, which would have made it even more majestic. I also have no problem with Meeker but I would have loved to have seen Widmark in his role, personally.

My personal favorite of the Stewart/Mann canon and one of my longest-anticipated releases.

Major release made even better since the DVD looked so poor. Should be a strong contender for Top-10 release of the year list.

OHMAHGAAAAH!!

What a complete mic drop surprise. This is one of the finest Westerns ever made, one of the five landmark Mann-Stewart Westerns and a title long overdue for a new transfer. The DVD (which is about all there is video wise) has inherent softness which was also in the 35mm print I was very lucky to be able to see in a western series at an arthouse a few years ago.

Day one, second one, it cannot come fast enough. Please let this mean Criterion or whoever is doing Winchester '73 follows suit soon and perhaps a new scan for Bend of the River.

With everything that happened with WA earlier this and all the uncertainty that's followed, the first movie that I was hoping they had already completed and was on its way was The Naked Spur. Yes, yes, yes! Even if the transfer isn't the best almost anything would improve on that muddy, almost VHS quality DVD. If it has the color registration problems like Bend of the River but is clean and sharp I'll still celebrate.
