Hi folks. Got Simpsons for the holiday, and had a question.
A majority of the character movment has what almost looks like a jitter when they move. Nothing major, but noticeable. Is this normal? Am I being too picky? Looks great otherwise. Setup: PS3, w/ settings on Auto XBR4 Movie is coming over at 1080/24p. TIA! |

Hello, I would have to say this is the BEST PQ I HAVE SEEN YET. I will buy this movie to show off BLURAY ON MY 42"1080P TOSHIBA. It almost makes the characters appear in 3D Its outstanding. Your set may have a slow response time if its an LCD ? All I know is it looked PERFECT

It does have noticable edge enhancement on a calibrated TV. If EE doesn't bother you, and you don't know what it is....don't look it up or learn about it. If you do, you'll start to notice it more and more.

do the people who are responding to this guy have 1080p/24??? i know toshiba has yet to get a 1080p/24 tv out on the market.
i have watched movies on 1080p/24 and i think the motion looks weird. ive heard you need to turn off a setting thats called "movie smooth motion" or something like that (help, if anybody else knows what im talking about) and it fixes the weirdness in how things move. thats just what i heard, i got a 1080p/60 and it looked great. i could be totally wrong, but i think there is some validity in what i said, so look at your settings. |

Hmm... So I should turn off the 1080/24p and see what it looks like then?
I think I've got that CineMotion thing turned off on my set, but I'll double-check. Should be perfectly smooth 100% tho? I'm not talking about the EE FYI. |

try turning CineMotion (thats what I was talking about) on, maybe. the only other thought i can think of is since its a movie based on a tv show, that it was done to a tv standard of 60 frames per second, but on a 120hz tv that really shouldn't matter. |

He asked about the PQ on a movie. Truth of the matter is that EE is present. I don't know what your deal. If you have the movie, watch it. EE is something that I typically do not notice, but with all of the blues (sky/lake/etc) and the contrast between skin and black lines, it's all over the place. Different people react to EE differently. If you don't have the equipment or are not predisposed to see it, then great for you! Don't get all pissy if someone else notices it and points it out.
As to being a troll, supersix14, you've got to be joking. Keep in mind people can say negative things about a movie or a format that they strongly support. With all of the people frothing at the mouth to accuse someone of being a troll lately, I'm surprised any new posters post on this board at all. And while I may be a low count poster, I've been visiting this site since November of last year. Get over yourself and the troll accusations. |

The cinemotion is the LCD smoothing algorithm (it goes by many names depending on brand). I have heard (never seen mind you) that the smoothing function can sometimes cause more trouble than it is worth (relax, anecdotal evidence only and I'm sure as any new technology it will improve over time). I would try it both on and off and 24fps on and off and see if you still have the same problems................otherwise how will you know?

Yes, but sharpening is something that can be eliminated via controls. Mine is reduced, and I've not noticed EE on other titles that I own. It is just noticable to me on the Simpson's.
