Default Saying goodbye to 3D........for now

Well today is the day. I'm selling my LG E6 and it's been collected today. I'm finally upgrading to a LG G4 77 after 8 years. I have noticed I just wasn't using the 3D feature for the past 3-4 years and the E6 was starting to suffer from a bit of burn in.

But I'm not selling my 250+ 3D Blu-rays. I'm going to keep them not only because they all have the 2D disc, but I hope that when 3D comes back in the future that I will be able to use them again. Either I get rich enough to have a home cinema room with a 3D capable projector, or some new tech comes around that is compatible with SBS 3D Blu-rays.

So it's goodbye for now, and I hope to experience 3D at home again in the not too distant future.

The money he spent buying the G4 77 (around $3k) he could've bought a really nice UST projector with 4k and 3D and a larger screen than 77". I guess 3D wasn't the top priority for him instead he preferred the OLED inky blacks and a perfect 2D presentation.

That's why the 3D converter box would be a great add-on. That way he doesn't need to buy a projector to have 3D and still have great blacks the TV produces.

OK, this is the first I'm hearing of this, HDFury x4 seems to be the updated version but the one review I've seen says he gets horrible ghosting no matter what he does, who has this and can you confirm how good this is?

Love my LG but they won’t get another penny from me until they make another 3D display. If my TV goes out it’ll be replaced with a projector.

Have you actually used this? I can find nothing online which really goes into the details of how it works or if it works at all. In fact the only things I've found have been a couple of people saying it doesn't work at all on anything other than Plasmas and CRTs and then HDFury support discord saying they don't really encourage using it as a 3DFury anymore (and that they don't even make the emitter now).

T'is a shame because that looks like it'd be great if it actually worked.

Nice, but too small. Mine is 75 inches. There were bigger ones available when I got it also, I remember the price difference for those was big but still should have sprung for those.

You probably need to search better as there are other members who referred it prior to me and in other forums that those devices are discussed.

Contact them as they might have 80" screens but might be on custom made.

Not a bad way to go all things considered, the 3D Blu-Rays I have noticed are getting scarcer (particularly limited or Collector's editions) so I imagine over time the prices would stay stable or increase over time, even for used copies.

Acer and Samsung have been making 3D monitors - though, they're mostly made for a single person due to the glasses-free technology and size. My 3D Acer monitor arrives tomorrow - I couldn't be more excited! It will be my first time experiencing home 3D outside of a VR headset.

You don't need a home cinema room for a projector if it is good enough. I use my bedroom wall, 3D looks as good as in the cinema.

What do you think of your 3D monitor?

I don't know if you're referring to the new generation of 3D monitors, which have a generally exorbitant price tag or not, but I have an Acer passive monitor.

To be honest, I was a bit worried at the start when I bought it as it was used or was branded as Nvidia 3D Vision. A little research has shown that many of the Nvidia 3D Vision monitors need additional equipment designed for a PC to get the 3D to work. An emitter and glasses.

I found it locally on eBay and even paid a bit extra for the seller to drop it off. They only used it as a computer monitor and didn't know anything about 3D when I contacted them. I think they were concerned that it wouldn't do what I wanted, and it would cause a drama. I told them even if it couldn't, it would be fine as a normal monitor.

Thankfully, mine didn't need that, I just needed a 3D player. I use a PS3 and the picture is fine, it's the same as my active Samsung 3D TV it came with one pair of glasses, but the Real 3D ones from the cinema work fine.

If you need a 3D panel and can't find a TV or they're too expensive, try to get a 3D monitor. The 3D is fine, you can get either passive or active, depending on the maker, some were even marketed as TV monitors, the best of both worlds.
