Either RANGOON is going to be
![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() It looks promising but I still cant imagine film maker of Bhardwaj's calibre shooting period of 1940s digitally. I dont understand his logic of using digital RED WEAPON 6K or 8K camera for cinematography instead of 35mm celluloid. The images here look way too clean, smooth and polished for the period film and for my liking. Although, the trailer is one of the best I've seen, lets hope its not another BOMBAY VELVET as bollywood really struggles to get period correctly on paper itself. ^The problem I have with it is, it feels like a mishmash of genre tropes and slavish Hollywood influence. There were genuinely interesting things happening in India's history at the time, but the place and period look like a 2-dimensional backdrop to a cliche romance triangle.
Also, I actually liked Bombay Velvet. It again suffered from some Kashyap indulgences (the Cagney tribute was forced and jarring) and the lead pair had below zero chemistry, but for me it captured the zeitgeist of the classic masala Hindi film, and Karan Johar was a gem in his role. |

Can we have the thread renamed to latest Indian film trailers 2017, please?
![]() BTW, here's the trailer for the Malayalam film Veeram, an adaptation of Bard's Macbeth set against the backdrop of Vadakkan Paattukal and directed by Jayaraj who had adapted Othello (as "Kaliyattam")and Antony & Cleopatra (as "Kannaki") as well. Barring Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha where he was depicted as a flawed and misunderstood hero, Chandu the traitor has always been the antagonist in every movie made on him. This time, the character becomes the protagonist once again, but the Shakespearian one who starts good and breaks bad to become the villain of the lore. Kunal Kapoor essays the role of Chandu/Macbeth. Last edited by kaykaysud; 02-20-2017 at 04:46 AM. |

Abbas-Mastan's upcoming thriller is shot on 35mm film or Digitally shot?
Cinematographer is Dilshad V.A. from Malayalam cinema I love that 1990s decade feel of Bollywood cinematography (BAAZIGAR, DARR, HAHK, DDLJ, KOYLA, 1942 ALS, SOLDIER, KARAN ARJUN etc etc). We know Abbas-Mastan are stuck in that decade forever but cinematography is natural, washed out, real, life like colors feel to it. Love that background. So 1990s. I rarely see this muted color palate in today's excessively colorful color corrected, vibrant digitally shot Bollywood big budget films. They are way too bright, LED like for my taste in cinemas. I like to support this kind of cinema even if thriller turns out to be average. Its throwback vintage 1990s bollywood for me (including that copied song of YALGAAR). ![]() Last edited by Hindustani; 02-24-2017 at 06:24 AM. |

Baahubali 2: The Conclusion
I could catch a few moments that hint to [Show spoiler] .Kaatru Veliyidai The latest from the formidable Mani Ratnam-A R Rahman duo, with the camera being wielded by Ravi Varman (Barfi, Tamasha). That "Jugni" track sounds great, and the wait for the OST is getting tiresome. Last edited by kaykaysud; 03-16-2017 at 04:32 AM. |

Teaser for the upcoming A R Murugadoss' flick SPYDER starring Mahesh Babu & SJ Suryah as the Good and the Scarecrow-like Bad respectively. Harris Jayaraj composes the music and Santhosh Sivan (Yay!!!) wields the camera.
Telugu: Tamil: [Show spoiler] Also, Reliance has got the distribution rights for the Telugu one, so a BD release is quite likely. Can't count on the same for Tamil though. |

The actors seem constipated in their attempt to appear profound and grandiose. Kuch bhi ho, Bhansali must be given props for making resolutely old-school melodrama, doesn't give a damn about trends. He has become the K Asif / Kamal Amrohi of today's Bollywood (of course he manages to make films far more frequently).
