Default Who Framed Roger Rabbit 4K

Would really love to see this movie come out in 4K restoration. One of the most iconic movies that blends live action with animation perfectly.

I got excited for a second. Knew it was too good to be true.

Was this in the main board till it was moved?

I'm definitely looking forward to this. But I'd prefer other Zemeckis flicks on the format first.

I access the message board from the main page so it's all just under "Blu-ray Movies USA" for me.

IIRC, the current Blu was derived from an older 4k master (crica 2009 or thereabouts) that still resembled film.

Since it's the Mouse we're talking here, we're taking a hell of a gamble. Best case scenario is the inevitable UHD using the same 2009 4k sourced transfer. Worst that could happen (and probably will) is an entirely new 4k restoration with the animated sections smeared to death by Judge Doom's "toon acid", and a Dolby "Atmouse" mix with extremely low volume levels and non-existent bass (but in that case, at least the included BD would probably be a repackage of the 2013 disc with its film like 4k transfer and decent 5.1 mix).

Thumbs up I wish

This was on my Lasedisc back in the day. Would to see in 4k HDR. I am afraid that Disney will cut out those naughty frames though.

The movie is basically one big optical because of all the 'toon VFX, I wonder how much better a 4K disc could actually be. And, in case anyone cites the usual advantages of HDR & WCG (hey, I'm not stupid), the movie being one giant optical means that the dynamic range automatically takes a hit in such shots.

Still, the gamma is completely wrong on the Blu-ray so if a UHD corrected that and that alone then I'd gladly buy it.

Considering this is basically a lost film, 4K seems like a pipe dream.

What kind of basis is the statement 'basically a lost film' for a blu-ray released title from only 6 years ago and which we know has a 4K scan... lol

This would never look amazing, but the more they release it the more they censor it, the less I care.

As a matter of fact, it would be awesome to see every movie in native 4K, but unfortunately it's not the case.

I thought Disney would revive the movie for its 30th last year, but nothing. I would honestly love to see this movie in 4k. The mix of cartoon and live action is so incredible in this movie. 4k would really bring it to life as well.

Still waiting for any news on this potential. Heard the sad news of Richard Williams passing, he really brought the magic to this movie and animation in general.

This is 4K HDR Atmos on Disney+.

It looks amazing! First I saw Star Wars in 4K, but this completely sold me on money well spent!

Jessica’s clunge for a few frames when she spins out of the car as it crashes, although this has been questioned because it looked like the animators simply didn’t colour her underwear white and left them flesh coloured.

Then I believe Baby Herman shoves his fingers up a woman’s dress at the start, and I seem to recall later versions edited his fingers to make it less aggressively sexual.
