I saw Sunday, that in the Best Buy Advertisement it said that the 3D starter kit comes with Monsters vs. Aliens Blu-ray 3D. Is this a new type of product, because the packaging looks different? I mean, is it just like Coraline without the stupid colored glasses? Or is it something different? What are we expecting from this.
Oh, and is Best Buy going to have this out as a demo? ![]() Monsters vs. Aliens 3D Blu-ray Samsung 3D Starter Kit Monsters vs. Aliens 3D Blu-ray Review Last edited by Deciazulado; 04-21-2010 at 06:52 AM. |

I hate the way the BD3D logo rests awkwardly beneath the BD logo on the case. I'd prefer if the BD3D logo was just on the case itself, but I guess that'd be too expensive. Maybe if they moved the BD3D logo into a corner, or... Eh, I'm too nitpicky. I'm happy the disc is actually in a case, I thought it would be in a paper envelope.

Well I didnt see the whole movie just what they were looping for the 3D demo but... I got too say it looks pretty amazing. It looks as good as the 2D bluray in PQ and the 3D is theater quality maybe even a little sharper.
Anyone on here watch the whole movie in 3D? |

I saw the demo of this movie at Best Buy. The 3D looks very nice, tremendous improvement over the Coraline one I own. The only problem I saw, not sure if that's how the tv is or was something wrong with the glasses, but every time I moved my eyes across the screen I would see a shuttering effect. The image looked as it was going on a slight blink every time I tried looking at any other part of the screen. While I was focused on one section it was perfect. No loss of detail or colors, no ghosting either.
It was a Samsung 3DTV and the Samsung 3D Blu-ray player. |

No lossless audio? Um, that's one way to step into the future I guess.
Cool to see the early review though, thanks Martin! |

So in 2D you get 2.35:1 and in 3D you get 1.78:1? Pics 16-20 are 1.78:1 and the title description also says 1.78:1.

Yeah, I'm hoping they just threw this disc together quick for demo purposes and to bundle it BUT will have lossless audio back on it when they release for everyone to buy.

Like you said this disc is a half assed effort. The spec was only finalized in December 2009 and thus Dreamworks had only 3 months to put this disc together and it shows. Anyone remember the first Blu-Rays released in June of 2006. They also needlessly dropped extras, lossless audio, and had video barely above a good looking upconverted DVD. Blu-Ray improved and so will Blu-Ray 3D. Hopefully. Monsters vs Aliens Blu-Ray 3D won't be avalible for general purchase until March of 2011 and hopefully in all that time Dreamworks can add lossless audio, extras, and fix its obvious compatibility problems. |
