Default How to tell if a Blu-ray is dual layer?

Is there any way to tell if a blu-ray is a dual or single layer disc other than looking at the specs on the internet? None of the blu-rays I have list whether they are single of dual layer.

You made me find out how to tell the difference between the two. After I read your post, my curiosity was peaked. I pulled out a few titles that I knew were single and dual layered from different studios and looked for differences. Well, on the bottom of the discs there is an ID ring near the center. You will see BVSS or BVDL. BVSS is the single layer marker and of course the BVDL is the dual layer marker.

Now, everyone will be looking at the bottom of their discs...lol!

You can also tell by how many barcodes are in the inner ring. Each layer has its own barcode. This applies to DVD as well.

If you have a BD drive on your computer, pop it in and see what the size of the disc is
