The Passion or The Last Temptation - Blu-ray Forum

Which film do you prefer. The Passion of Christ or The Last Temptation of Christ? I think both films are very powerful and moving. I actually prefer The Last Temptation and hope that it gets a proper blu release on Criterion. A little more epic in scope and tells more of the story IMO. However I thought that James Caviesel was a better JC than Will Dafoe. Not knocking William's performance.

I haven't seen the Passion of The Christ yet, but I want to. And now that it's out on BD I'm sooooo looking forward to seeing this. Just have to prepare my GF for the visual imagery!

The Passion.

Its cinematography is outstanding and its true to its source.

Last Temptation because Passion is more or less a gore fest. My mother wanted me to go with her and that was my impression of it. I'm not into gore movies.

Mel Gibson's directing of the passion is brilliant as so Scorsese's. In a head to head battle Oscar let's say Best Picture Last Temptation Best director Mel Gibson Best actor James Cavieziel easily, Best score Last Temptation Best cinematography Passion Best screenplay Last Temptation

The passion Blu ray is remarkable however. The ambience sounds are crisp, clean and the soundtrack is worth the price of admission. Looking forward to a Criterion Blu release of Temptation hopefully!!

The Passion of the Christ. I understand many people do not like all of the gore but in my opinion I think this film gives a good reprensentation of what my savior went through.

The Passion Of The Christ is the better movie. I can not think of many other movies that affected me like it did upon my initial viewing. The Blu-ray is well worth the purchase price.

The man may be an Anti-Semite, I don't know him personally maybe you do so I guess that gives you the right to judge someone. I don't know, everyone at sometime under the influence of drugs or alcohol or just angry has made some sort of racial slur weather to themselves or others. I have and I regret it, but does that make me any sort of racist. No it means I am human and I make mistakes. Or I'll just skip it entirely. If I want to watch a movie about torture, I'll toss in Saw.

You call the Passion a snuff film, but you have no problem with The Midnight meat Train, Sin City, The Punisher or Friday The 13th.
So do you have a problem with anything Mel Gibson or is it the movie, because I think some of the movies in your collection have more gore and are a lot more violent than the Passion. Just trying to figure out your argument. Maybe you're just trying to be funny or something.

The Passion

Beast, if it comes across as a snuff film, it's only because it is true to the gospels, with a few exceptions (Judas seeing demons, specifics about Satan's presence).

Neither. I find The Last Temptation to be sacrilegious and The Passion just didn't interest me, way to violent for a film about J.C. I would much rather see The Gospel of John or Jesus of Nazareth, two films that show the true Passion of Jesus Christ and how he lived as an example for the way we should lead our lives, released on Blu-ray.
