Default Duke Nukem headed to the big screen...

Source ((I'm hoping Max Payne can break the cycle and be great))

Quote:
One of the most well-known classic video games is now headed to the big screen - Duke Nukem. The game first arrived on PC way back in 1991 and has since gone on to become one of the most well-known shooters that helped launch the action genre into the mainstream. Producer Scott Faye, who is currently finishing Max Payne, is working on adapting this video game and promises that "I'd rather not make the movie than make a poor adaptation." Faye's still developing the story and doesn't want to shop it around Hollywood until "until all the people involved in the project feel solid about where we are creatively." I thought Return to Castle Wolfenstein was the only classic game being adapted at the moment, but I guess I was wrong.

If it's better than Doom with the Rock, then I'm in.

That render of him kinda looks like Bruce Willis.....no way he could play Duke. Gotta be someone muscular at least.

Say what you will about DOOM, I liked movie. It was even one of the few movies I watched a second time. But being a fan of DOOM I guess I am partial.

Max Payne should be good because I think Mark Wahlberg will do the part justice. I just hope the director as least WATCHES someone play the game to get a sense for the look & feel of it. At some point Mark Wahlberg will have to squint like Max Payne "pinching a loaf". If anything to be comical.

The Rock is a little too dark to play "the great white hope" which is Duke. Maybe Vin Diesel. Arnold is more the type but is too busy and too old now.

As for Duke Nukem, I really hope they go with someone who is not an A list star, like Willis. I'd prefer someone else with the look and the talent to pull off the sarcastic wit that is Duke. There's bound to be someone out there who'll step up and give a stellar performance.

As for Max Payne, yep I'm really excited for that movie. I like Mark W and think he's done some great movies and I hope they stick to the dark graphic novel feel of the it all and transfer that to the movie. I'm a big graphic novel fan and really dig both games edgy moods and art...I have high expectations for it.

I hope Max Payne is the start to great game to film adaptation's (Mortal Kombat 1 is an exception in my opinion-love that movie) But if Max Payne is good, let Duke Nukem be even better.. but if they arent.. i know Gore Verbenski will get game to film adaptation's on track with Bioshock, so looking forward to that movie-the game is incredible, great story.. I honestly thought we were going to get on the right track with G 2 F adaptation's will Hitman..was wrong..loved the trailer..little dissapointed with film

oh yes, I thought Mortal Kombat was a fantastic movie, just love it. I've viewed the DVD more times than I care to admit. I'm picking it up the day it comes out on bluray

I used to love that game. First game I could remember where taking a leak increased your health..."Ahhhh...much better!"

I hated it so much. It didn't help that I read the book first where johnny cage consecutively breaks each of Goro's wrist with a chain then shadow kick's him off the cliff. Instead that scene was replaced with a groin shot. And the stair climbing scene was reduced to nothing more than a gag.

So who would you recommend playing Duke? Is Dolf Lundgren too old/Russian? He's the first person to come to my mind.

Can't wait to see the Pig Cops! "Come get some!"

I dont know why i thought of this dude... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4vgUu6qebj0 ....only problem , no hair ha , most actors can change their accent ,so that would be fine , but i could see him in the role , if he had some blonde hair of course , unless some think he would be too big
