Default The Janson Directive - Dwayne Johnson

nother cinematic universe is taking shape.

Universal Pictures is teaming up with screenwriter James Vanderbilt and his partners at Mythology Entertainment, Brad Fischer and William Sherak, as well as Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner of Captivate Entertainment to craft a series of movies based on the works of Robert Ludlum, the best-selling author behind the studio’s hit Jason Bourne spy franchise.

First up in this universe will be the adaptation of Ludlum’s The Janson Directive, which will star Dwayne Johnson.
It is unclear how Johnson’s character will figure into the future installments. For now, Johnson pumped and focused on bringing Janson to the screen first.

"The Janson Directive is classic Robert Ludlum," Johnson told THR. "Sharp, edgy and layered storylines. The character is complex, conflicted, bad ass and lethal — I can't wait to sink my teeth into this and bring him to life. Between Jamie, Akiva, Captivate and Universal, it's an exciting time to help produce and build out this awesome Ludlum universe."

Jeez. He's in every movie now. Seems he's the new Sam L. Jackson.

They're both charasmatic. Better than being the new Sam Worthington, like Taylor Kitch briefly was.

I think he really is a terminator. Because no one man can do all this. Or he has a bunch of clones.

John Cena, Dwayne Johnson Team for Action-Thriller 'The Janson Directive'

Cena is in talks to star in the adaptation of the best-selling novel by 'Jason Bourne' author Robert Ludlum.

Dwayne Johnson is teaming with Hollywood's other wrestler-turned-actor, John Cena, for the action thriller The Janson Directive.

Cena is in talks to star in the Universal project based on the best-selling novel by Jason Bourne author Robert Ludlum. He would play Paul Janson, a former Navy SEAL who now works as a corporate security consultant. Janson becomes a target himself when a rescue operation goes horribly wrong.

James Vanderbilt (White House Down) will adapt the movie from a story co-authored with Akiva Goldsman.

Johnson, who made the casting announcement Monday on his social media outlets, was originally set to topline the project, but his incredibly busy schedule — which includes the upcoming feature Skyscraper and a sequel to Sony's Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle — kept him from starring in the movie. He will now serve as an executive producer alongside Seven Bucks' Dany Garcia and Tracey Nyberg of Mythology.

Ben Smith and Jeffrey Weiner of Captivate Entertainment will produce, along with Hiram Garcia of Seven Bucks Productions, Vanderbilt, Brad Fischer and William Sherak of Mythology and Goldsman for his Weed Road Pictures.

Cena, who is repped by ICM, is in theaters now with the Universal comedy Blockers and will next be seen in Paramount's Transformers spinoff Bumblebee.

You also have to consider the fact that The Rock is already jack'd up, so he doesn't need extra months to get in shape. He's already set and ready to start shooting.

such a shame the rock is working like a horse shooting all these movies, yet nothing memorable that would go down in books as a classic. well, except for pain & gain, but he wasn't the lead there. and remember 15 years ago most people were certain he'd be the next ahnold.

Cena doesn't feel like a very good choice for Janson personally...

At least we won’t be able to see the main star.
