Lightbulb Who has SPEED on Blu-ray (Have you checked out all the BD-Java Interactive Features?)

I got this movie last week based on the fact that it's a good action flick. I come to find out that this BLURAY release packs a punch when it comes to Java Interactive features.

In brief here is what it features:

- First we have this cool On Screen and In Movie "Trivia Track" that mentioned certain facts or stories behind certain scenes, so you turn that feature on from the seamless menu and watch the movie, the the Trivia tracks just pop on the screen while you watch the movie

- Second, you can bookmark your favorite scenes and make your own little montage...similar to what HDi's U-Control offers. Its actually cool because you can eject the disc, turn off your PS3, reinsert your BD again and the scenes are saved in persistent memory

- Thirds, the little BD-Java game, where they will play a series of scenes where a bomb is located somewhere in each scene, and you have to move your little cursor and diffuse several bombs from each scene. The more bombs you diffuse, the more speed you gain, and if you go below 50mph! guess what? BOOOOOOOOOM!!! There are other supplemental games within this game as well

I didn't look any further, there might be one or more Java-based interactive features, but they were all cool. All I can say though, its nice to have, you might mess with it once or twice, or to show off to your friends or have your kid play that little game (not sure how child-friendly is a bomb-diffusing game). But at the end, I just got out of that and watched the movie in its bluray goodness!

I think the movie is worth buying, just to shut up your HDDVD friends...tell them yes WE HAVE BD-Java Interactive capabilities!!! Same goes for atleast 10 other BD titles that have Java Interactive features.

I have the movie and played with the extras. I thought it was a good purchase and would do it again. The disarm the bomb on the bus game was interesting for a couple minutes.

I'm not all that into extras on any movie though so the PQ/AQ of the main feature is what's most important to me.

I love this movie and I must say, very nice transfer, made it look like a new film just released to me, but that's just my opinion. Stay Blu Homies.

Didn't see a thread on this and it seems to be a blu-ray that not a lot of members talk about.

I finally picked it up today and I thought the PQ was pretty good. AQ was better IMO. Overall I'm happy with the new addition to the library.

Do any of you own it and what's your opinion?

Thumbs up good title

I've bought Speed and was impressed with the pq and sq of the movie. Considering it is over 13 yrs old, i think they have done a decent job, although, as anything, it could be improved upon.
Well i'm at least one happy customer of Speed, so feet up, beer in hand & enjoy a entertaining movie..

I hope you don't think I'm rude, but it you don't see a difference why are you buying them? Is it for the audio or just because you never picked them up on DVD?

Default good question

I suppose you could ask that question to a lot of new blu-ray titles which have not meet the true potential of the format. I put this down to the studio's, how much finance and effort they contribute to restore a old movie to the best it can be.

I for one enjoyed Speed and with my hd set up, the movie on blu-ray is much more superior than standard dvd release, in pq and aq. With other titles which other cusomers have been dissapointed with (Terminator 2)
, they have bought the title anyway due to, i think, to the hd quality of the movie being better than the standard dvd release.

It's a matter of individual preference, if you enjoy a movie, you will want to upgrade it to hd standard and see & hear more of what the movie is about (doe's that make sense?).

Well this is why i want to upgrade my dvd collection as time goes by to blu-ray, hope this helps

i never brought them on dvd so its sorta a excuse to buy films. Plus blu ray is still new in Oz so its nice to be on the ground floor once in my life when people start buying their first few films on blu ray i will most likely be at 200+

Anyone think the new french release can be better than US/UK since it has BD50 and all others is BD25. Same audio though but maybe codec and bitrate difference?

What I know the US=UK. Though just read on amazon.fr that the new french is 2 discs also and that makes it even more interesting.

It does not play on my PS3. The PS3 behaves as though no disc was inserted, like it does not detect it.
