Its only natural for them to react this way. Its like being left at the alter by your wife or husband to be. Devastating.

Actually, I am wondering if the person who wrote it is being sarcastic. By what I am reading, the person is really suggesting things that will make things worse for HD DVD.

It really is.

At first the train wreck is interesting, and you can't pull your eyes away - then, it just becomes sad.

Run a two month sale on all HD-DVD players that, via a rebate directly from Toshiba, making their final cost around $49 (Your Wal-Mart promotion on Black Friday was a good idea--even if it did smack of desperation. I say do it again).
The manta of HD DVD supporters has been lower prices. Wait till they hit sub $200 - well, they hit sub $100, now this guy is saying $49?!

Why not just tell them to dress up like clowns and slap themselves in the face until they passout. Sheeesh. Why humiliate themselves like that?

Quote:
Work with remaining HD-DVD content partners to cut disc prices in half.
Uh, they've been going that. It was called a BOGO.

Quote:
Bundle five movies with all players.
Uh, they've been doing that too.

Actually show consumers something that proves that HD-DVD is somehow better than Blu-Ray. (Look, I know that's not true, the formats offer the same 1080p viewing quality and loads of extra disc space for interaction, plus online-connectivity is really not a laser-technology function. So, this means you have to innovate in some meaningful way. How you do this, I have no idea, HD-DVD. but I digress).
Just - WOW! Too bad they didn't have this guy with all this insight 3 months ago! Who knows - they could be in the same exact position they find themselves in right now!

I got this almost immediate reply from a couple of MODERATORS and obvious DUD fans. Check it out:

lol. desperated.

when we lost para, we're not that bad, and we still confident to maintain 2:1, and we did. While they lost warner. That's a lot of movies compared to para's 33 movies. They don't have hope. From now on, the nielsen would average to 80:20

This is just my opinion, I'm not a complete expert on this...if you want more information, you might ask Paid, Penton or someone else.

I'll take each and see if I can answer them.

First off, your first quote is about the consumer selecting the format winner. Well, no matter how many people you quote or numbers you quote, the Red Ants will spin it so that they'll look good. Here's the answer thought that I consider: Nielsen numbers have been in Blu's favor for 52 weeks (however, they will say that Wal-Mart is not included in there and I'll just say this, go ask a Wal-Mart representative--I've asked many and they say Blu is selling better).

Also, in the area of consumers deciding the outcome, just think about Warner's announcement--they went off of sales of their product. Warner obviously selling more Blu-rays than HD DVDs.

Second, Sony did create Blu-ray; however, they did have some help from Pioneer. Look at the history of Blu-ray in Wikipedia. Sony had two lines of thought going on the Blu laser technology and both were brought together to make the Blu-ray technology of today (along with some improvements that were made). Also, yes the BDA has final say so in the Blu-ray format, it was the reason it was created (they vote on each move).

HD DVD is an inferior format. There is no doubt about it, better bitrate on Blu-ray, larger possible storage capacity on Blu-ray, and Regional coding for studios on Blu-ray (to name a few superior qualities). Also, what about fans of Panasonic, Philips or any other people who developed this technology? Sony is not the only one with a stake in Blu-ray technology Panasonic and Philips, I believe, have been said to have a larger stake in it. In fact, the BDA website is run by Philips (look it up if you don't believe me).

However, that being said, I am a fan of Sony and always have been. I also have had several Toshiba products in the past. Sony has just always stood out in my mind as having better quality in sound and picture.

I think the guy should have just written

"Dear HD-DVD,

Goodbye."

It would have saved everybody 10 minutes.

That's too harsh, man.

You have to use more subtlety and finesse.

Like this:

"Dear HD-DVD,

LOL"

seems HD DVD PRG released press-release, still saying their attach rate is better than BD. Also HD DVD computer is 80%. Have they consider they are combo or been replaced by BD drive by the owner (I know I did just that)

This article is sarcastic and very obviously so. Just like the Divx Lover website from 1999.
