There's no contest. Moviepass allows you to see a movie everyday of the month for $9.95. Sinemia doesn't come close to that. If you want to see a movie in IMAX, 3D, Dolby Cinema, RPX, XD, etc; you can just pay out of pocket for those few occasions. I would get the Moviepass card while it's still such a great deal. It's not likely to last forever.

It depends on your moviegoing habits:
Movie Pass- If you see a lot of movies in a regular 2D theater (limit of 1 per day) Sinemia- If you like going to premium movies (You can only go to 1 every 30 days-IMAX, XD, D-BOX) If you like 3D movies If you go to 3 or less premium or 3D movies each month. If all of these apply to you it would be beneficial to get both. Sinemia has tiered plans based on how many movies you watch. If you want 1 premium or 3D movie per month, but go to regular 2D movies a lot, your best bet would be to get moviepass and the cheapest premium sinemia membership too. (The cost of Sinemia membership for one premium movie is still cheaper than paying for that one movie out of pocket) Also keep in mind, Moviepass is billed monthly, for Sinemia you have to pay for all 12 months up front. Hope this helps |

I agree that MoviePass is by far the better option (while it lasts).
Yes, there are times I want to see a movie in IMAX or whatever, and on those occasions I just buy out-of-pocket. But even then I rack up so many points on my AMC Stubs card seeing 2D movies with MoviePass that I usually earn enough rewards to cover the tickets when I have to buy them. |

If you have a participating theatre such as Studio Movie Grill, you can eticket and even reserve seats with Movie pass. Sinemia has been tempting to try, but as mentioned you can use accumulated points with AMC, Regal or the like to see the occasional 3D movie.

Signed up for Moviepass in April & have seen 9 movies with it since. I only would have seen 2 without it. 2 of those 9 were Upgrade & Tully. Two really great movies that will rank among my favorites of the year.
Supposedly MP is supposed to roll out upgrades for premium format showings but will that happen before they go under? Sinemia's most expensive plan is $14.99 & only allows 4 movies a month max. Not even two weeks into June & I would have used that allotment already. |

Have had MP since August I think. While it is great value, the lack of premium screenings and very very limited eticket options (zero options for me) is making me cancel this month.
All theaters I go to are assigned seating and with the summer movie season that means the good seats are taken days in advance. This leaves no options when MP requires you to be at the theater to purchase, day of. For a while we would make the trek to the theater earlier in the day and buy the tickets for that evening. But even then we had to rely on lower traffic days and quite frankly that is a pain and a waste of half an hour. There were also months when I only used MP once or twice. No fault of MP but since I had to make extra time to pre-purchase tickets it made me go fewer times. I just signed up for Sinemia, the two tickets option. Downside is that you have to pay upfront the entire year. I like that I can see 3D as much as I want and 1 ticket per month can be in Imax or XD. But the real kicker is being able to purchase tickets online ahead of time. An absolute must for summer movie season. If I want to see a 3rd movie in a month I'll just use Cinemark's discount club. So the question is, are your theaters assigned seating and how much is your time worth to you? Online ticketing for MP would be the winning combo. |

1. I'm not sure what deals are currently available with MP, but I think there are legitimate concerns about how long MP will stay in business and I'd be a little concerned about prepaying a year for MPIf you don't plan on seeing more than 2-3 movies per month, Sinemia might be a better choice. |

Sinemia is awful.
80% of theaters aren't available on their app. The premium showing thing is once every 30 days (NOT once every subscription period - You go on June 12th, then you can't go until July 12th, even if your new month starts on June 13th). The app is horrible as is their customer service. Stay away...stay far away. |

I went to the theater 4 times in 3 days over the weekend. Sounds like you don't go to the movies very much at all.

I have been a Sinemia customer since April. I went with them over MP due to Sinemia offering Imax and 3D showings at least once a month. I have not been disappointed. I don't go too often, but the plan I chose (2 every 30 days) is perfect for me. They offer other options, too.
Customer service is slack, but I have had luck the two times I needed them by reaching out via DM on Twitter. They were not quick, but did help. The app is quirky and takes a bit to get used to, but it isn't bad. I choose the movie through the app, copy my card info they send, and buy my ticket through Atom. Pretty easy. Feel free to use my referral code: https://www.sinemia.com?banner=friend-invite as we will both get $5 off ($10 if you show them you are coming from Moviepass). |
