Default Prince of Persia 2?

Ok i really dont like these kinds of movies...And i put off watching prince of persia for a long time...I actually got around to buying it on blu-ray/dvd. Me and my wife watched it and love it! I dunno why...we have since watched it 2 more times..I looked up that it did "ok" at the box office but the budget to make the film was way more than it made...I was hoping to find maybe a sequel to be made with the same actors/actresses...But it looked grim...However i did see that blu-ray and dvd sales really did well for this film...Again i never played the game or anything...But the movie was excellent IMO. Anyone hear rumor or talks of a sequel? I would hope to see one...But i would want the same actors/actresses and for disney to put it out again
The story was great and theres so much more they could do with it in a sequel.

I thought Prince of Persia did a pretty good job of having its story parallel that of the Sands of Time game. I hope the sequel has nothing to do with Warrior Within (which sucked), though.

they would need to slash the budget by at least $100 mil. to even consider making a sequel on this movie.

the original went north of $200 million.

i would love to see a sequel as well and feel the same way you do about the original.

just a fun all around movie. and it surprised a lot of people that way.

I don't think there's been any news of a sequel and if there were plans for another film then we'd have heard something by now. There maybe one in a few years, but at the moment it doesn't look like a second movie and since Gemma Arterton is apparently leaving Hollywood, that may put a damper on the project.

Gemma Arterton is beyond sexy and so young too, I would hope her decision to leave Hollywood is not permanent.

From what I've heard, she wants to start a family and just do smaller budget films.

If this is true then it's quite surpising, because she only became widly known two years ago with Quantum of Solace, and since then she's only done about three or four big blockbuster films.

A sequel is highly unlikely.

They would have liked to start a franchise with it, but it underperformed compared to what they expected it to achieve and the first one cost way too much to make.

I loved the first, but I'll be very surprised if we see one.

What is your source for this? I searched a good amount, even on a fan site of her's, and found nothing that she is leaving Hollywood. The only thing was she is going to be more choosy since she has established herself now.

As far as a sequel to this, I find it highly unlikely at the moment. I loved the film like others have as well. I guess in the end I'll be glad we got this one.

It could always be that like Narnia which did poorly at the box office, Disney will option the rights to this franchise to a different studio like Fox and we will get a sequel anyway, probably with about half the budget of this one though.

Anything is possible I suppose, but I'm not very optimistic right now. Who knows, but I'll continue to enjoy the first one in the meantime.

Yeah i mean at least the movie ended to where there could be a sequel but not needed...And with the blu ray dvd sales being so good...maybe that factors in on a sequel? The movie itself at the box office wasnt that bad...it just didnt surpass what they thought it would...And i said i usually dont like movies like this...but i did purchase it...BUT it was after i ordered it on comcast and liked it. I skipped it in theatres...and kept putting off watching it then one day i decided why not and ended up being surprised and loved it...my wife & parents also loved it..Glad to own it...I would really love to see a sequel with the same actors.actresses with more use of the dagger would be awesome.

p.s. if you got the walmart holiday guide in the mail...they have prince of persia blu-ray/dvd/digital copy combo pack for 19.99 and i price matched it at best buy..where it was 34.99...so i got a pretty decent deal on it also

The first will be lucky to not loose money with it's poor bvox-office to budget ratio. No sequal will be made.

The movie was a huge flop here in North America, but it did very well overseas. I actually liked the movie, and I plan on buying it once the price decreases. But I seriously doubt a sequel will ever be made. Even though worldwide it was somewhat more successful.

I also didn't think audiences see Jake Gyllenhaal as an action star. My opinion he fits more in the independent or drama type films. So maybe launch a new film with a new lead, and a very small budget. $200 million was huge risk for a movie like this, with a lead who was very iffy.

i actually liked seeing him take on an action role.

he's a very good actor and thought he did very well in this.

He was alright in the movie, and I actually like him as an actor. But I don't think he appeals to young males or a larger demographic, which the film needed to target. I think he appeals exclusively to women and gay men. I think some may see him as effeminate, and for an action role you can't have that type of stigma.

i thought he played the prince really well. i actually had just finished playing the forgotten sands before watching this on blu and though he mirrored the role very well.

still wish we get more, i'd love to see a 2nd be made.

Most people that actually watch the movie have said they liked it. And i like the acting in it...the movie was like 200 million to make..and they made like what 90 million box office? but then the blu ray and dvd sales went thru the roof for it so that should count for something right?

I mean the main actor in the movie jake gyllenhaal how do you get he only appeals to gay men and women? You could say that about anyone...i mean how can a male actor appeal to a straight man? lol...no offense i just dont get the comment earlier in the thread that said that....and just because this guy isnt brad pitt or christian bale etc etc doesnt mean the movie cant be good and have a good story to it..Plus the chick in the movie is smokin also!!!...i guess im on my own when i say im not one that likes a movie depending on what critics say or box office sales...
