I have a deep appreciation for this movie but not sure I need to own it. Nice to see it getting a BD release though.

I saw Heaven & Earth on VHS in the mid-1990s. I am not an Oliver Stone fan, but this is a very good film with a well made and deeply moving story; I will be buying it on blu. The thing I remember most about it is the soundtrack. The music is incredible, featuring beautiful compositions by Kitaro, the immensely talented Japanese composer. Haunting and unforgettable. This is one movie I really do appreciate an isolated score from Twilight Time.

According to TT on Facebook:

Quote:
Twilight Time DVD Label: Heaven and Earth is indeed a WB title. It's a "one-off" driven by Oliver Stone who really wanted us to put it out.

Whoa. I wonder if Stone was upset that Warner kept it on the shelves. Or maybe Stone didn't want to fall under the Warner Archive label.

But then Warner Archive and Twiliight Time are niche products with less mass consumer advertising. Although, TT does include an optional isolated scord and effects track... something Warner rarely does unless it cost them almost nothing for the music.

This is an absolute must own for me. A great film with an absolutely incredible sountrack from one of my all time favorite composer/musicians. Some of Kitaro's utmost finest work - and I've heard nearly everything he's done, back to his days in Far East Family Band. I still have some OOP concert DVD's, one in which he performs the main theme live.

So where do you go to order these stupidly short-run blu-rays? Been waiting for this forever and now it's barely being released. Ugh.

Don't worry.
I don't think everyone will rush in to get it!

Nice to see this getting a release, but I can't imagine I'll be in line for it. Easily my least favorite Stone flick (including W. and Savages) which I only recall being the most depressing thing I've ever seen. I'll revisit the dvd (which I only have cuz it was in a boxset) to make sure, but vividly recall telling myself to never watch this again.
Where's U-Turn and Talk Radio? Those have TT written all over them.

Bingo! Even though I was "Titus'd", if TT were to release U-Turn, I would buy it in a minute.

I've always been a big fan of Stone's films for years. Heaven & Earth is no exception.

While extremely depressing, it's a very good film though.

According to Twilight Time and other forums, TT got three Oliver Stone films. Heaven & Earth is the first one and Warner has no plans to license any others to TT so speculation is that the other two could be what you requested.

The second one is Salvador already announced.
We don't know the 3rd.
I would hope for a JFK theatrical cut, but the chances of it are zero..

Someday I'd like to see the theater cut of Any Given Sunday as well, but that has even less chance than JFK I fear. At least old laserdiscs and vhs of JFK have the theater cut, Sunday never has in any format from what I can tell. I haven't searched the world for it as it's not that big a deal, but something I would like to see someday esp. after hearing Stone talk about it on the commentary. Sounds like some good scenes were exclusive to that and they aren't in the deleted scenes on the dvd/bd releases either. I even taped that thing off cable 3 times in hopes of them playing the TC, but it's always the DC, always! Meanwhile cable still plays the theater cuts of JFK and Nixon.

Salvador is a probable. Even though I can only stand to watch it once every few years, it is one I always go back to. Might have to hope for no quick sell out and check reviews first though. Not sure if I can justify $35 for a flick I only watch every 5-10 years, and I just watched the dvd last summer. Gonna force myself to give Heaven & Earth another try soon. I was already thinking about revisiting it, now I have reason to.

It's sad that Warner refused to put out an important work from a major filmmaker... yet they're releasing drivel like The Avengers (1998).
