Default So I picked up my TV, and...=(

...sadly placed it into my bedroom, retiring it from front-line duty - that Vizio 32" 1080i served its purpose well.

And in its stead in my living room, finally entered the world of Full HD by finally hooking up the 42" Philly Ambilight I got for Christmas (I paid for half of it) - and let me tell you, I was missing out on something, I know they say there's not much difference, but in this case, it is quite breathtaking.

College students on blu-budgets unite.

You don't know the difference until you see it.

I really thought it wouldn't make that much of a deal, I was just going for the 10" increase in screen size.

P & I is night and day. The people that argue otherwise, don't have it. That and you have a better TV in general...

I'd have to disagree, and I've seen both. There is a slight difference but it's not night and day.

Haha - so I figured out why it was such an enormous deal, and now I feel foolish. Signal compatibility for my old TV was 1080i, but display was always 720p. Oops! That makes so much more sense.

I, for one, can not stand interlaced videos!
To me it is more important that it is progressive, than that it be 1080. A 720p display, to me, looks better than a 1080i display.
1080p is the best, by far, and i am never turning back!

I think going from the Vizio to the Phillips is the main reason you are seeing such a big difference. Vizio is a nice set for the price, but just can not deliver the same PQ as a good Phillips, Sam, Sony and so on.

Enjoy the new set

Perhaps...Vizio is a lot better than most people give them credit for.

I am still a college student living in the 1080i age. Maybe for my birthday into next year I'll have enough saved up.

Congrats on the new TV.

I not think Vizio is bad set for the price point they are at and have recommended them. I would over any other set in the price range. It's just to me when I compare it to a Phillips, Samsung, Sony and so on the Vizio seems soft, but like I said that's just me. And when I'm looking at them it is at a big box retailer

Those that are in the savings mode for their next gen TV should wait it out until you find out more about Laser TV's or OLED's.
