My new Samsung NU8000 UHD TV has a menu for turning on "UHD HDMI COLOR" for each of its four HDMI inputs, and I know this corresponds to transmission of the high-bandwidth signals coming from UHD players with HDR...but right now, I'm still using an Oppo BDP-83 Blu-ray player with this display, which sends out 1080p video from the player (over HDMI 1.3 cables), so do these UHD HDMI COLOR menu selections need to be ON?
I've left them OFF because I was originally told that if I'm not using a UHD player yet, they don't have to be engaged...but can someone confirm this? I saw a rtings video in which they were reviewing a Sony display and mentioned the HDMI UHD COLOR inputs should be turned ON for "maximizing the inputs' bandwidth"...that's why I was a bit confused. |
