Default Who would be OK with 4K only

If the disks were Sub $20. I've been buying the AAA stuff Like Deadpool2 and Avengers etc from the Ebay code sellers I usually get Case, Slipcover and 4k Disk only for around $15. To me a fair price i don't need the Blu Ray and the code while nice to have isn't that necessary. I would rather the put out the 4K disk only version and give us a break from $30 media.

Anyone Else ?

As long as the 4K disc has the same bonus features and it's cheap, especially for older titles.

Fox has been releasing their catalog titles as UHD-only in Australia. Works well enough for me since I already own everything on BD that's worth upgrading.

Just don't be compulsive and buy on day 1. Plenty of sub-$20 UHD out there, just have a little patience.

I agree. Just the 4k disc would be fine for me. The blu-ray discs don't get touched.

I'd be fine with it as soon as I can rip UHDs.

They need to start including all bonus features on the one disc like LG does.

No. A lot of people including myself haven’t upgraded to 4K, but will buy 4K combo packs to future proof.

I'm fine with the price points we have, which are basically $17-25, with the occasional lucky $15 and stubborn $30 for day 1. Prices drop relatively fast for the patient buyers too. Plus blu-ray releases routinely try to come out at $20-25 as it is, and it's like the UHD is $5 extra.

I can't imagine companies would decide to sell UHD's for $10 out of the gate if there was no BD included, or even if there was also no digital included, so there's no reason for us to put the included BD on the negotiating table.

Plus, it will probably always be a good way to get people to buy into UHD, and you still see blu-rays come with DVD's. I have real life friends who buy UHD's because it's not much more expensive and they know they want to go 4K eventually. I can only foresee future Criterion or Arrow style releases opting out of including duplicate discs for a target audience.

And I agree about the special features. I love the 4K HDR deleted scenes on the Crouching Tiger UHD.

I prefer bonus features on a separate disc, as much as possible- keep those feature bitrates nice and high.

They can do both. Use BD-100's.

for the time being I like having both 4k and 2k versions.

Comes in handy when the kids say "dad, can we have friends over and watch Kong Island" tonight?"

yep, just grab the blu ray version, not the 4k

Considering all the new 4K releases we get here sell for $35, not including shipping, I probably wouldn't buy any if they were UHD only. Take Saving Private Ryan for example, where they got rid of the 3rd disc and crammed the 1080p movie and bonus materials on one disc, yet charge $35 for it. Not to mention the terribly low stock of many releases, making it a gamble to wait for a sale. Also digital codes aren't really a thing here, so that's good value right there.

The release has the standalone UHD disc, then one BD50 disc with the 1080p movie and all the bonus materials.

I was wondering that because here in the US it's a three disc set.

No, the 4K release is the UHD and the same two BDs included in the original Sapphire Series release.

AFAIK, all Paramount 4K UHDs whose original BD releases had two BDs (movie + extras) are three disc releases. I have Transformers 1 and 3, Star Trek 1 and 2, Gladiator, SPR, and Forest Gump - all are three disc releases.
