Man shoots son over Xbox 360 argument

As any crime beat reporter will tell you, police reports aren't always the most precise source of information about a crime. Take this opening paragraph from The Morning Call, which they say was taken directly from police reports, "The boy wanted his father to look at his Xbox 360 video game system. The father didn't want to. An argument ensued. The boy handed his father a rifle. Shoot me, he said. So the father did." ... Yep. That makes perfect sense. The dad wouldn't look at the 360, the 17-year-old (who's now recovering from a head wound) asked dad to shoot him, dad did. Of course.

Maybe the dad would have looked if it had BLU

Nope....that mentality would never be behind a PS3 owner...I see it with a 360 owner though....

It was probably built up tension from previous squabbles that just happened to blow up all at once at this one incident. The straw that broke the camel's back.


The father is divorced from his mother, and that probably played some role in this. He's probably had some hefty squabbles with the ex-wife and other relationships and legal issues afterwards. If he kept it bottled up and unresolved inside him, it just blew up at this point.

Most likely, the son felt that the father didn't love him, since I'm assuming the dad is bitter about the divorce and doesn't like his mother too much and hasn't been treating his son as lovingly as a normal father would in an intact, loving marriage. The son might as well could've been saying, "if you don't love me, then go ahead and shoot me. Maybe I shouldn't have been born at all if you hate me so much."

In other words, what the father did was to commit a "delayed" abortion that he felt he should've done before the kid was born.

What I mentioned above is probably not true, but it's one possibility among several.


Seriously, they both should've stopped and counted to ten. I'm sure the both of them are probably regretting that they didn't.

Or, the father is just whacked....

If the XBox did not get the red ring of death then this all could have been avoided as there would be no need for the farther to look at it.
