just bought a ps3 - Blu-ray Forum

hey there, i just purchased a ps3 for blu ray with spiderman 3 and then i picked up resident evil extinction....truly amazing....Im very impressed with the picture quality compared to standard dvds....I have a couple questions though.....right now i have my ps3 hooked up thru HDMI, but i have a 5 disc dvd changer with suround sound....Id like to get my blu ray's sound thru my surround sound???? is there anyway i can do this????

also i want to mail in for my 5 free blu rays...but they require the origiinal upc code...what happenes then if you have to return your system?? the store wont let you return it without a upc code right????

If you don't have the UPC on the box, you will be able to exchange the PS3. However, you won't be able to return it.

Welcome. I hope you knew that Spiderman in the box is a movie. I have a friend that just bought one and threw the Spiderman 3 case to the side thinking it was some stupid game. I had to laugh at him for an hour.

does your changer have optical in? if so, you can connect it using an optical cable.

Once you walk out of the store, if anything goes wrong with the machine you will need to contact Sony Service. Make sure you keep your receipt! I have two machines and have one boxed up literally right now to send in tomorrow for a replacement. I love the machine, just got a lemon on one which is rare.

Let me add though, did you buy a extended warrenty thru the store? if so, then I think you need to photo copy the UPC code as proof of purchase for service. But pretty sure that you have to send the machine in to Sony no matter what.

Just for the sake of it, I took digital pictures of my UPC and serial number...ended up not needing them, but hey, its good to have something for the future...

I actually bought it from wal mart so no extra warranty..... I should of bought from futureshop or bestbuy

I know the PS3 will let you do HDMI for audio when using Component Video out... I guess give the opposite a try....

plug in the component video plug to the PS3, but only use the analog audio (red & white RCA's) into your changer. See the if the PS3 will then let you have HDMI for video and analog out for audio...

thanks man...yea that worked...but its not as loud as when my im using my changer...its alot quieter

i just hooked up the audio component cables from the ps3 to my tv...then changed the audio setting in the ps3 menu to component and it worked
