Default Will Warner still be region free?

Living in Australia, I have been purchasing many WB BD's since they are region free.

Now that they are blu ray exclusive, will they remain so??

Why not? Other Blu-ray exclusive studios release all titles region free so why wouldn't Warner continue to use their policy? They have always had the option to region lock their Blu-ray titles but have choose to not do it.

I was under the impressive that because WB released on HDDVD, and there is no region encoding, they followed suit with blu ray.

But now they are exclusive hopefully they continue to do so!!

I don't see why they would start region coding now.

I think he meant theatrical releases; that would make region coding obsolete.

I guess better example would be the Pan's Labyrinth, which is region free and was released six months after the DVD.

Warner goes region free on BD because for the most part they distribute their own films. New Line have partnerships hence its need for region coding. However, the same goes with WB when it partners with other partners or another studio. Then the studios would work together for a release strategy.

Short answer to the op: highly unlikely they'll change their policy.
