So I stopped at Target to pick up their exclusive Blu-Ray of season one of Netflix’s Stranger Things, with the cool worn 80’s VHS-style packaging, and was surprised to find a 4K Blu-Ray version on the shelf as well. It has a white cover instead of a black one, with alternate artwork, and based on the sticker, it has an alternate poster inside as well. The folks in the Blu-Ray version’s thread were unaware of this, and strangely (pun possibly intended), it doesn’t even seem to be listed on Target’s website at the time of this post.

Unfortunately, I don’t quite have a 4K setup yet, so I can’t check the picture/audio quality (I figured this set would be the best version to get to future-proof). Maybe someone else here can find it and take a look?

Definitely a curiosity! Plus, it was only $30 - just $5 more than the standard Blu-ray version.

wth, I've seen that VHS box all over twitter, but nobody ever mentioned anything to do with 4K UHD.

Have you opened it to see the discs?

You saw this white one all over Twitter? Because the normal Blu-ray version is in the VHS box too, but it’s black.

Haven’t gotten to open it yet. I will when I get home in a bit!

Well, if this is true I will be the first to run to the local Target, BR edition in hand, and raise utter hell. I WANT this in 4K and WOULD have bought it that way. It's exchange time if Target has been hiding something. And they had better comply!!

Of course it’s legit/true - I even took those pics in the cold right on the sidewalk for you guys! lol

Well, considering Target didn't even announce the Blu-ray release until they put it in that Sunday's ad... yeah. I'm not surprised something like this would have snuck through.

This pisses me off. Like, a lot. If a 4K option was available on release, I would have bought it. Even if I had known it was coming a couple/few weeks later, I would have waited. But, now I own the Blu-ray, and that's all there is to it. I'm not double dipping immediately just because they couldn't be bothered to promote this thing in even the most sensible of ways.

I hope this is legit.. That sticker looks kind of fake to me. Pixelated, and not showing the packaging like the previous one did.. also, the ink on the spine is smeared.. Seems sketchy
