Default Disney+ Wave 4?

Disney+ Wave 3 came out back on December 3, 2024, so we are long overdue for Disney+ Wave 4. And idea if there will even be one coming?

I think either we arent getting anymore due to poor sales or we need to wait for more star wars live actions before they make more

The Disney suits told Tony Gilroy "streaming is dead" during production of Andor S2, but also they don't want to sell discs and make any of their money back. Who can know the mind of Bob?

They have The Acolyte and have been sitting on Book of Boba Fett for a while, skipping over it to release Obi-Wan, Andor and Ahsoka instead. And they could just keep releasing Marvel, doesn't have to be Marvel AND Star Wars.

It was 8 months between wave 2 and 3, and Disney doesn't like to announce too far in advance anymore. So who knows. I would still buy the Marvel ones. We're still missing 4 shows plus all three seasons of What If? that I would assume would be one set, and have 2 more that have finished airing after those.

They also have Skeleton Crew which I'd love to get a 4K set of.

They're definitely never releasing What If? (or X-Men '97) on disc. Even if every live action show gets a disc announcement tomorrow, they're clearly never going to bother with animation. Otherwise The Clone Wars' last season and several other Star Wars shows since would be out by now.

I always assumed that since BOBF and Acolyte would not sell well, they would focus their attention to a Clone Wars complete 4K box set, or Bad Batch 1 and 2, or both. Or well, more hoped than assumed I suppose

I'd guess they aren't going to release shows that weren't successful and are waiting for more things to put out. I really doubt The Alcolyte ever comes to disc for example, and they already skipped Boba Fett.

I'd assume Andor 2 and Daredevil will eventually come out at least.

Shouldn't this be in the wish list section?

OG (Netflix) Daredevil isn’t out on 4k, is it? Now that, I would buy.

Disney dropped all Netflix Marvel shows in BD on the US after Luke Cage s1. So we never got s1 or 2 of Iron First, 3 of Daredevil, 3 of Jessica Jones, or The Defenders.

UK only went one further and got season 1 of Iron First and then stopped.

UK got the entire run of Agents of Shield and Agent Carter. US tapped out after season two of Agents of Shield and the first season of Agent Carter; doesn’t help season two of AoS and Agent Carter were paywalled as Amazon exclusives.

UK didn't get all of Agents of SHIELD, they dropped it after season 5. Only Japan got the last two seasons on disc, and were expensive.

And no country got Runaways or Cloak & Dagger.

Don’t really care about any of the Marvel releases as they’ve all been garbage outside of Werewolf by Night and that’ll likely never see a physical release due to it’s short run time.

As for Star Wars, Book of Boba Fett would sell well despite it’s short comings. Andor S2 is all but guaranteed. I know I’d buy both and gotta figure we’ll see those eventually. I think they want to forget about The Acolyte and Skeleton Crew might not have the following to justify a physical release.

Would be a special miracle if Genndy's Clone Wars was finally released on bluray, lol

Miracle indeed. Shame that series was swept under the rug once the CW animated film and eventual new series took over. Genndy’s take was a lot of fun and should be preserved as a side note in SW history even if they don’t want it acknowledged as canon.

I just bought the DVDs the other day finally after all these years. Knowing my luck they’ll announce the Blu-rays right away, so you’re all welcome, happy to take one for the team on that.

The truth is that the reason "streaming is dead" is likely because their content sucks. And that's not going to change if they put it on a disc.

Netflix doesn't think streaming is dead...
