Queston regarding PS3, Best Buy, and 20% RZ discount....

Okay, let me try and explain this as easily as possible. I tried using my Best Buy Reward Zone 20% coupon on a PS3 this weekend. I actually tried using it at THREE different Best Buy locations. Each time I was denied and each time the GM I spoke to was insanely rude and arrogant. Soooo, I called corporate and spoke to consumer relations about this coupon. I just didnt see how it could be denied use on the PS3. Well, they agreed. So they told me to go back and purchase the PS3 at full price and call them back and reference the case number they gave me. They then said they would cut a check for the 20% difference. Great right?! Well after this whole fiasco I just don't want to give Best Buy my business. So I was wondering, could I purchase the PS3 and then call them for the discount and after they tell me they are sending me a check could I simply return my PS3 to the store? I would then head over to Circuit City and purchase it there. Would I still be able to cash the check that Best Buy sends? Anybody out there know? I'm sorry if this message makes me come off as a jerk but I just really really didn't like how I was treated by EACH Best Buy manager I spoke with. I would love to stick it to them just a little if I could. What do you think?

Seriously though, the PS3 is a video game system that just happens to also play Blu-Ray movies. That's why Best Buy won't honor the 20% coupon.

I understand its a gaming system that plays blu-ray movies. But the PS3 IS marketed as a Blu-ray PLAYER. It comes with a blu-ray movie, and it even qualifies for the 5 FREE blu-ray offer. Also, the coupon makes a point to exclude the X-Box HD-DVD add on, as well as computer drives. But it never mentions the PS3. And it doesn't say anything about excluding gaming systems.
Of course, I have said this OVER and OVER again for a few days now. Corporate agreed with me. But the 3 power-tripping GM's I spoke too didn't.

The coupon specifically states ALL Blu ray disk players....on the exclusion list, it specifies the XBOX 360 HD DVD add-on but does not list the PS3...they could have avoided this entire mess if they would have put PS3 on the exclusion list.

how would this be stealing?

Best Buy knows they don't make any profits on console sales (game consoles pretty much never go on sale and they are ALWAYS excluded from coupons), so leaving it off the exclusion list on this coupon was inviting this situation to happen...
