Default Negativity caused by HD DVD vs Blu Ray Threads

Folks,
How about we give this topic a break for a while. There are plenty of things going that can keep everyone occupied, but it's tending to get a bit negative, when this topic starts.

Does anyone have any good ideas, how this can be better managed. Maybe a poll once a month or
A fixed thread HD DVD vs Blu Ray and only place links - without commentry and just put Pro HD-DVD or Pro Blu Ray
<http://www.reliablelink.com.au>
Please don't think this thread is an invitation to start all over again only comments on how to manage this issue please.

Any other suggestions?

Is the thread title a tribute to the previous thread starter?

The news only is a good idea. I think the majority of the people here have intelligent, well thought out conversations about the subject of Blu-ray.

If we want to discuss HD-DVD there are plenty of other places to do it.

I agree to a piont. HD dvd in a certain way is part of BD, as well as the oposit. Personally I get a good chuckle out of so of the BS that has been posted lately and not just here. The only problem that may rise by banning HD DVD talk is this site would be come sort of like AVS were the Ban you for talking about BD in a positive and correct manor. I thin a better way to take care of this problem and the HD DVD trolls would be to start an HD DVD vs. Thread and move the post that get out of hand there to keep us all sane.
If a debate is going on in a civilised manor than it could be a positive for the side that is showing the most (fact usally BD) and may change the mind of one or more persons about BD. In a war every person counts, so I wuld have to disagree with the idea for the bann but agree things are a little out of hand at the moment.

i agree with PA. by eliminating hd-dvd talk we are completely closing our minds. both technologies exist and to ignore one would be a bad idea. healthy debate is good. it's only when the likes of that "one" thread are started that there are issues.

Does it honestly matter? The news of HD-DVD Being cracked is spreading like wildfire. Studio Execs will be getting wind of it soon. A group in china who cracks DRM for fun supposedly got it figured out and we'll be seeing the results really soon. The files play fine in Windvd7 and PowerDVD7.

Once the studios see HD-DVD is just another volnurable format like DVD before it, they'll drop it like its hot. Drop, drop drop.. Drop it like its hot.

Well, that would be bad.

I do think though that there should be a new discussion area called 'Battleground' or similar where competing technologies could be discussed.

It would at least make this area more pleasant to be around.

If someone wants to make me an admin I would fix it up right quick

I'd make a debate forum devoted to all debates. That way negative and argumentative talk can be accessed by those who want it, and avoided by those who don't

I was not for a moment proposing a ban on HD-DVD information. Threads seem to get a little hot when Blu Ray is going to crush HD-DVD. Or HD-DVD is going to kick Blu Ray to the moon and back. Threads that stay on one side or the other tend to be fairly docile, but PM's and reports tend to fly around once the vs ends up in the middle of the two.

We all have our minds made up one way or the other who is going to win, but it's too early to announce a winner no matter what you personally think.

I'm really happy to remove the Viagra and associated posts from this site, but hate getting involved because members are having a disagreement, so anything that can be done to minimise this is a good thing. On the other hand I'm opposed to censorship and have the view that everyone has a valid point to make - unless it's abusing someone - I will everytime stick with the abused, not the abuser.

I've also had the idea of a somewhat relaxed "battleground" forum, however, what might happen then is that we are attracting even more HD-DVD "fanboys", "to come fighting the Blu-ray 'fanboys'". They might also start posting in other forums as well, causing a small chaos. This has been the case on other forums with the same idea...

Let's keep the HD-DVD related discussions to "General Discussion" for now, and keep them REASONABLE and SENSIBLE

I agree with Iceman. I can only see an HD DVD vs. Blu-ray area causing a lot of trouble and leaking over into other areas.

it'd just encourage the fanboi's to show up and then they'll stick their greedy little mitts into all of the threads and kill the fun
