Default Gorgeous (Vicol Oct 19th 17)

Never expected to see the HK version ever comes out, I have the Japanese version, and I probably will add this version as well.

Huh, didn't expect that. Wonder if it's the same master that was used on the Japanese and German blus.

Hmmm.... One of the better films of the older Jackie Chan era. Tempting.

Is the Japanese/German Blu-ray quality good? No upscale?

Buyoyo lists it as "Remastered Version". Hopefully that's a good sign.

I'm probably going to make a fool of myself, but what does the "Advanced 96K upsampling" refer to? Some audio track? EDIT: Never mind, it's the audio track. I'm a fool.

Any signs of this coming in other regions?

Nice film, but I can't see me revisiting it much.

Should be genuine HD.

I don't know if you're referring to the HK or German release, but in any case if you'd have bothered to check the links you would have your answer.

The Japanese release looked decent, but in 1080i/60 instead of 1080p/24.

There's a little button on the top right that says "English". Clicking that brings up the page in one of the two languages you're fluent in. To answer the original question: Yep, it has English subtitles!

Hmm, that's odd. Why would they do that?

OldPangYau said that German and Japanese releases used the same master. I hope this Vicol release is better.

Can't find any info about this on Vicol's own website.

If anybody takes the plunge and orders this, please tell us the details. Thanks.

My Hong Kong DVD is non-anamorphic and looks pretty bad. I'll take this "remastered" version so long as I don't have to see the 480i picture zoomed in anymore.

If caps-a-holic is anything to go by, it seems like the German edition is a hair sharper... perhaps because of a proper 1080p transfer as opposed to the 1080i Japanese release.

Wow! Now I finally can ditch that Malaysian DVD release along with its atrocious video quality.

Does this mean Vicol would keep continue releasing their remastered catalogue? Fong Sai-yuk, please!

I think that was only cut from the US Sony Pictures version... should be safe here I do remember they basically "traded" cameos that year, with Stephen Chow in this, and Chan having a cameo as a rookie stuntman in Chow's "The King of Comedy". If anything, thanks to the likes of Shaolin Soccer and Kung Fu Hustle (ironically released in the US by Sony), more international fans would "get" this cameo more nowadays anyway.
