Default Well, just bought the BD30

After the positive reviews and it being 1.1, I ran with it.

I'm recently moved back from being neutral and really wanted something that up converted better than the ps3.

If the PQ on the BD30 impresses on DVD and BD, the ps3 may be gone.

Don't take this as a blow from me to the ps3 because I love it, just don't need two boxes. Someone off ebay can give it a happy home.

Congrats on the buy. What receiver are you pairing it with?

Edit: Ignore the receiver question. Looks like you beat me to the answer.

My guess is you won't be very happy until you replace your receiver. You need a receiver that will decode DTSHD-MA and True-HD.

Hey Crackinhedz, is your new Avatar the Integra 9.8?

You won't be able to hear any HD Audio tracks (TrueHD or DTS-HD MA) until you get a capable receiver.
The BD-30 only bitstreams out the HD audio tracks.
It does not decode them internally.

I understand that.

It should not be assumed that audio is as important to me as others.

Ive only been watching movies with a rcvr since Nov, was using my hdtv

Just finished planet of the apes, very good PQ.

I got a 92 in the family room and the 94 in my bonus room, both paired with BD30's. I had an 81 and an 82 before paired with two Samsung 1400's but moved those (the 1400's) to bedrooms and when I bought the Bd30's I just had to get the 92 and 94. Sold my 81 on Craigs List and my 82 on Ebay. Absolutely love them....Pioneer receivers

Not even sure I know half the stuff the 92 and 94 can actually do ? But still love them

By the way, great pick up with the BD30 !!!! you will love it

Exactly, I have an older receiver that does not support the new HD Audio formats but the 5.1, 6.1 and DTS are doing just fine until I eventually upgrade. Video is more important than Audio to me too. You will not be unhappy with your new Panasonic

Here's a question:

Should I be using bitstream/dts or pcm?

Yepp, my next big purchase is a Aquos 1080p lcd
