Arrow Adam Sandler is making four exclusive films for Wet Chicks...wait, sorry, *Netflix

Quote:
"I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only. Netflix rhymes with Wet Chicks", Adam Sandler says. Sigh.

For those who were once fans of Adam Sandler, the last few years have not been good. Comfortably the purveyor of the laziest streak of mainstream Hollywood comedies in recent times, Sandler has been giving the impression of a man who's as interested in his own films of late as some of the audience. Once a name almost guaranteed to give you a hit, his box office powers - outside of Grown Ups 2 - have been in decline of late.

But don't worry: the man will not be starving. Firstly, promisingly, he's signed up for a couple of dramas. And now? He's inked a deal with Netflix, that'll see him make four movies exclusively for the streaming service (which presumably won't be in cinemas as a result, guttingly).

In a press release seemingly bereft of apostrophes (we've fixed them), Netflix's chief content officer, Ted Sarandos, said that "people love Adam's films on Netflix and often watch them again and again". We also learned that "Sandler is a unique and prolific comic voice".

As for Sandler himself? He said that "when these fine people came to me with an offer to make four movies for them, I immediately said yes for one reason and one reason only. Netflix rhymes with Wet Chicks".

There you have it.

It's disappointing to see Netflix, which has been investing in some really strong talent and productions, going for a drink at the well of Sandler. If the films turn out better than the last lot, then we'll happily eat our words. If they don't? Let's just say it'll be a pity.

At least Netflix rhymes with Wet Chicks eh, readers?
