Default Where Eagles Dare / Kelly's Heroes coming June 1st!

Guys this is some seriously epic news.. WHERE EAGLES DARE is finally going to get the Blu-treatment, the only other DVD release of this film does not include the intermission and is in letterbox form only I think...I am almost drooling at the mouth trying to imagine how startlingly clear and breathtaking the Austrian winter battle scenes are going to be on this new release WED is a very visually beautiful film with very startling sequences and vigorous violence, I can't even count how many die in gun fights, but it's just a very grandiose picture! I really suggest you check out this article on it:
http://www.in70mm.com/news/2009/wher...dare/index.htm

Anyway what I am wondering is, although Kelly's Heroes is a much more popular film...is it too much to expect that this transfer will be really meticulous and well done for WED, and not rushed, since it's sort of a double-feature deal? I'm curious if they will include the music intermission too, but in light of this epic news I am a little concerned that WED isn't its own release.

Believe me, if it's a good Blu-ray transfer, watching this movie will be awe-inspiring on the right TV.

I see that someone else started a thread on this release after I had posted the link. Might be a good idea for a moderator to merge the two threads.

Not sure about that.

If it is the same as the majority of WBs other double-feature discs they all were (with the exception of "Dity Harry/Magnum Force") on one disc. The discs were not flippers though since both movies were on one side of one disc.

I prefer "Eagles" over "Kelly's Heroes", which was a good comedy until about 3/4 of the way through when it lost it (e.g. the "show down"). I would have bought both of them anyway, so the two pack is a good idea.

Sort of the same subject. Every Which Way But Loose and Any Which Way You Can (Clint's "Clyde the Orangutan" movies) would make a cool 2-fer!

I know all of Warners double-features were on one disc with the one exception, but could they fit both of these movies on one disc? These movies are over 300 minutes combined, could they fit 5 hours of HD content on one disc?

What a great double feature.

Here's hoping that the package is two discs.

Excellent! These are two of my favorite 'older' WWII movies. Preordering now.

"The Eagle Has Landed" is one of my other favorites. WTF is up with the $45.99 price tag?

It might be cheaper buying "The Eagle Has Landed" from Amazon UK...I did and had it shipped for free to my parents house in the UK.

Not sure what shipping is like to the US but I would check it out before purchasing it from Amazon US (it's the British disc you are buying either way and it is Region Free).

Incidentally, Blu-ray discs can fit 5 times the amount of date a DVD can, so there is no issue of space in fitting both "Kelly's Heroes" and "Where Eagles Dare" on one side of one disc.

I am hoping it is two discs and at least the featurette is ported over from the "Where Eagles Dare" DVD.

.

So if they are both on one disc, does that tell us anything as far as how good the transfer will be? Are most flippers at that price? It seems low enough that it would be indeed one disc, but I'm not sure. Since space is not an issue I am expecting there will be special features for WED and the original full intermission, but I really hope the transfer is as good on WED as something like The Shining.

This has to be the worst news I have heard for a long time.

These films is what I am waiting for to be released on BD and then they go and release it on double features, what is this all about have the run out of discs or what is this all about. ??

The cover for this is maybe the worst I have seen.

I hope Warner spends the time tweaking the transfers to do these films justice. Some of the recent combo's like Analyze This/That, Grumpy/Grumpier Old Men have one good looking transfer and one bad one.
