USA Outland 4K UHD (1981) (Arrow Video)

Quote:
EVEN IN SPACE, THE ULTIMATE ENEMY IS MAN.

Writer-director Peter Hyams (Capricorn One, 2010, The Relic) takes classic Western tropes off-world and into the future in sci-fi thriller Outland, starring Sean Connery as a federal marshall assigned to keep the peace on a distant moon.

Con-Am 27 is a mining facility on Io, one of Jupiter's largest moons. Six hundred million miles away, the gravity there is one sixth of what it is on Earth, and there is no breathable atmosphere. The work is hard, the bonuses big and productivity is breaking all records. But people are dying. Every so often they just snap. The secret? A drug that can keep its miners working days on end, but over time results in burn-out and psychosis. When new Marshall William O'Niel (Sean Connery) investigates, he uncovers a deadly conspiracy and finds his life under threat from a company that will stop at nothing to keep him quiet.

A chillingly prophetic depiction of corporate greed and exploitation with muscular direction from Hyams, and a stellar performance from Connery, Outland arrives on 4K UHD in a brand new restoration that is out of this world.

The background is the Con-Am 27 logo with a workers head exploding in front of it.

Wow! Highly underrated gem from Peter Hyams! Check out the 5.1 track that's apparently from the Megasound source. The LFE has a good kick to it. It also is a great looking movie. Even if Excalibur is not announced for November, this makes up for it.

Outland is an excellent intense western in outer space. Frances Sternhagen is awesome as the cranky, no nonsense doctor. The look, design and atmosphere would make it a great double feature with Alien (1979). That cover sucks. It has non of the aesthetics that make the movie great. Hopefully, they’ll have an original artwork slipcase variant, like they did with Legend (1986).

Hell ya! Been a while since I first saw this about 12 years ago now when the blu-ray first came out but I really enjoyed it. I'm a big Peter Hyams fan and it's cool seeing a lot of his movies getting re-released in 4K the last few years. Day one!

It's rumored.

Maybe there's going to be an Arrow exclusive with the original art. God, I hope so. I think I'm throwing that slip in the trash if not.
