Default When and where was the first time you heard of blu ray?

The first time I heard of it was in the Guinness World Records book where it had the record for the highest capacty DVD disk (but now I thought, "Isn't the BD not a DVD?").

I was sitting in line almost exactly two years ago waiting to pay for school. And my friend who I worked at BB with at the time who is a genius by the way, (we worked in computers together) and he was telling me about. He was blowing my mind with all this 50 GB of space on one disc talk. I was so excited.

I was working in a video store {co-manager} in my home town and my other manager started to tell me about it.

This was 3 years ago and it still baffles me to this day how he knew so much about the technical details and which studios and companies were on which side.

Do a search in the forums to make sure you won't be repeating a thread already created before you make your thread.

A long time ago in a galax...
Nevermind.

First I heard of it is when Star Wars fans were itching for George Lucas to release the Original Trilogy on DVD, but reports were that he wanted to wait for some new format called "Blu-Ray". I think it's funny that now that it's here, there's no Star Wars to be found.

True, but even though I'm not a big fan of the Wars anymore when I was a kid, It would be nice to see the Death Star in blu.

The first time I heard of blu ray discs was about a year to two years before the PS3 came out where rumors were in the Playstation mags about sony using a new disc technology called blu ray. At the time the discs were actually in cases much like UMD's are.

For me i heard about it when they were still developing it in the Labs a few years ago, they were reporting it in various highly-techniqucal internet websites about storage media development. I heard about HD-DVD in the same way

I also heard about a new process of packing more data into harddrives. I wonder what happened to that?
