My new 46 inch Sony w3000 is coming tomorrow. Can anyone suggest the best settings to use right out of the box? I'm pretty pumped as this is my first 1080p TV and can't wait to see how my blu ray movies look!

Here you can try my settings that I use for Blu-ray. I have the KDL52W3000 but the settings are probably the same on the KDL46.
Picture Mode: (Cinema) backlight 4 picture 87 brightness 48 color 55 hue 0 color temp warm 1 sharpness min noise reduction off mpeg noise reduction off drc mode off black corrector off advance C.E. off gamma low clear white off color space standard live color off white balance (factory setting) detail enhancer off edge enhancer off General Settings: light sensor off power saving off If you have a HDMI v1.3 Blu-ray player you can also change the following Video Options: Video Color Space change from Auto to X.V. Color RGB Dynamic Range from Auto to FULL The full RGB made a hell of a difference on my TV with the PS3 also on Full RGB. Have fun and enjoy your new TV. ![]() |

Do yourself a favor, first off never use your eye to calibrate the setting on your display, same goes when setting up your audio channel levels by ear, always use a sound level meter. Use a disc with steps to follow to get the optimal picture such as Monster HDTV Calibration Wizard. The disc is easy to use and you get professional results without the cost of a professional. Here is the link to get it from Crutchfield.
http://www.crutchfield.com/App/Produ...c&i=119HDTVCAL There are others out there but this is very simple and straight forward. A priceless investment at $25 with outstanding results. Side note if possible always use your HDMI connections. |
