I'm so glad Shout never bothered to give this a 3-D blu-ray release, because it now means that the 3-D Film Archive can give it the deluxe treatment. Thanks to both them and Kino for making this happen.

Wow. I was under the impression 3D TVs sold so poorly they stopped making them after, what, 2 years? Where are all these 3D supporters coming from?

It was more like 6 years. From 2010 to 2016.

While the 3-D TV market is dead, brand new projectors and HMD's still have 3-D compatibility.

3-D enthusiasts who purchase vintage 3-D films are a small niche, but very dedicated. The market is there, but profit margins are thin. So only 3rd party publishers like Kino Lorber, Vinegar Syndrome, and Flicker Alley are willing to put up the money, and dedicated restorers like the 3DFA are willing to work with microscopic budgets.

2010 to 2017 to be exact, although Sony was still making its final 2017 3-D compatible model (Bravia XBR65Z9D) in September of 2018, because that’s when mine was manufactured, got it from Best Buy in December of 2018. Massive upgrade from my old early-adapter 2010 Samsung special, which had lots of crosstalk. My Sony 4K Bravia is beautiful, and the 3-D presentation is excellent overall, very minimal crosstalk evident for the most part. I now have the perfect television, along with six pairs of active shutter glasses. My living room theatre setup is a 3-D paradise. If I had a house with a basement I’d convert it into a much better theatre with a projector etc.; glad to know that new projectors are still including that capability.

I continue to hope that a new glasses-free method will technologically come to pass, and that 3-D will finally be recognized as a vital addition to home theatre. Until then I’m buying every single classic 3-D film I can get my hands on!

Awesome news!!! I've been hoping for this to get a proper release. I remember when this was shown on television back in the day. You had to purchase the 3-D glasses at the local convenience store. Looking forward to viewing this. Another 3-D movie to add to the collection. Out of my 1600+ collection, 300 are 3-D. Keep them coming!

Great announcement, glad I’ve held onto my 3D TV. This has to be the most batshit crazy 3D film I’ve ever seen in a theater. Insanity from beginning to end and very entertaining.

I have been waiting for this one for a long time. I’m so glad it’s in the capable hands of Bob & Co of the 3DFA. It will be mine on street date. Many thanks to all involved!

3D TVs never had a problem selling. It was the 3D movies that had the problem.

Well, it's a good thing all of these 3D restorations are happening now, eh? Except I can't go out and buy a 3D TV at Best Buy

Buy a used one. You can find good deals sometimes. We found for my girlfriend a nice 2015 58” 4K 3D JVC TV used in good shape on Craigslist for $450, works just fine, great 3D.

I had never heard of this until now and judging by the cover art alone I thought it was an animated title! Now after watching a trailer on YouTube, I realise it is in fact live action and probably (ahem) a so bad it’s good kind of film?!

Did this even get an international release in the 80s?

Matt

It most definitely did. This - if I recall correctly - was the very first film of the eighties 3D revival to hit Greek movie screens. Too bad Comin'At Ya! didn't.

It has to be seen to be believed. It was a lot of fun seeing it in a crowded theater a few years ago. One over the top scene after another. The only other film I’ve seen with a large group get such a reaction was Wicked, Wicked.

Always awesome getting more 3D titles. I moved my LG 3D TV to my bedroom and only use it for 3D to help preserve the lifespan. I have 4K in my main living room. #DFA always delivers, so this is on my radar. I just grabbed Taza from Kino.

This was one of the Rare 3-D movies in the 80's to get THUMBS UP from Roger Ebert and Gene Siskle, it's a fun ride and if you like "pop outs" with your 3-D than this movie will deliver!

I hope this film doesn't have any "Baked In" issues like the opening titles on Silent Madness 3DFA did everything they could but there was just no fixing them (the rest of the movie has AMAZING 3-D)!

This is probably the weirdest 3D movie I've seen and I'm thrilled it's getting a proper restoration. There really is no point in watching this without 3D. It is pure spectacle. Much thanks to 3D Film Archive and Kino for making this happen.

Wow, this is going to be a noticeable upgrade from the "4 Action-Adventure Movie Marathon" Shout Factory DVD (which I just watched again a couple months ago).

So those of us without a 3D TV are out of luck? I got a stash of different types of 3D glasses that could use some love.

That DVD was a disgrace, I have an ex-rental VHS that looks better than that DVD release.

No, not at all. This Blu-Ray will also include a 2D version that will still look spectacular although 3-D will be way cooler.
