Thumbs up Rediscover your Blu-ray collection

It's that time of year again A new version of Movie Label, my favorite blu-ray organizer.

If you haven't already; you owe it to yourself to checkout the new version of this great
movie library software.

Among the news this year:
* Improved Blu-ray support
* Totally new view handling
* Improved harddrive movie file scanning
* iPhone/iPod export
* etc

The only thing I miss now is online presentation of my database, but I hope that is coming next

I'm off to add the latest batch of Blu-ray movies received today:
Couples Retreat, New York I Love You, Law Abiding Citizen and Time Traveler's Wife.

hmm, I hadn't heard of that package before. My preferred choice for organizing my collection is DVDProfiler from Invelos.

I've found this site's collection viewer most convenient for me. Easy to update, as I'm always on here.

I used DVD Profiler back in the day also.. I switched when I felt I needed something a bit more advanced. I just went to their site now and it doesn't seem they made much progress since I used it (6-7 years ago). It is a good basic package though.

Hey,

Looks cheap to me but it's Windows only as well so there's no way I can even check it out as I don't do Windows.

I like the community section here for keeping track of my collection though it is limited in ways.

What features are you specifically looking for (e.g. what do you refer to as progress)?

There was a long gap without updates years ago when the sole developer was in a legal battle with the other partners in the company. After that was worked out ~3 years ago (Intervocative -> Invelos) the developer released a nice upgrade and has added features with each release. There's even a new beta which was released publically to registered users.

The community section is a nice feature to this site but I wish there was a way to add titles based on a list (e.g. list of upcs). In my case it doesn't seem beneficial for me to import my large collection one by one based on the limited capability it provides.

There hasn't been a release for over a year now. Sure it seems to be a very small update to be released soon, but look at other similar applications. They are improved on a regular basis to add and improve functionality. But dont get me wrong DVD Profiler is good for basic needs.

DVD Profiler works for me. I don't see anything else that this software offers that I would want.

I never thought you were dissing DVDP but I was just curious what features you preferred that weren't in the program. We all have different opinions and needs for cataloging movies. For me I'd prefer an option to store my collection offline and DVDP fits that bill. There are (or were) some nice online cataloging sites but users have gotten bitten one too many times with online only versions. There may be other great programs out there that I'm unaware of though.

I'd love to see more frequent updates but then again there is only one developer and he's been working on quite a bit. Not to mention that there is a small one time fee for the program and all future updates (major and minor) are free. I'd agree that there may not be a lot of items on the improvement list that I may use or want but I won't call the list small. A rolling beta has been available to registered users since Oct '09 but here are some of the changes in those builds:

Updates in Beta Build 1349
Updates in Beta Build 1341
Updates in Beta Build 1315
Partial list of updates in initial beta (added)

Not to mention that a lot of the changes/updates originate from user requests.

The developer is working on a number of simultaneous projects that all tie in together such as:

Updated DVDP Mobile app
New iPhone/iPod Touch app
Updated DVDP
Revamped DVD Profiler Online (DPO)

Don't know if you saw this thread but there is a lot of development currently going on:

State of Development, Current Projects

But I don't want to steal the thunder from your thread. Cudos to you as I didn't even know Movie Label, by code:aero, even existed until you mentioned it. From time to time I do like to see what other programs have to offer.

+1

The site collection viewer serves it's purpose for me. I only need a listing as 'proof' for my apartment insurance.
