Default HD-DVD selling more than i thought..

Euhmm.. in the top 50 of electronics (amazon) you can see 2 hd-dvd players, what's up with that? And if you look at this:

the sales of movies are going up as well, so i guess most are hd-dvd fanboys not giving up.. So shouldn't we continue to buy more warner and stuff like we used too to make sure nothing changes? I know, we're winning and stuff but Warner could always change their mind if sales continue to grow for hd-dvd don't you think?

What i mean by that is: Do some of you buy less movies now that Warner made their decision? cause that would be wrong !

Well Amazon.com is only a drop in the ocean. Look, HD DVD had a bogo and it never appear on the top 10 of Nelsen Videoscan (the real numbers).. BluRay or HD DVD....

Toshiba is fire selling their player right now.. so it's normal to see people that want them

I don't really pay much attention to Amazon but I hope we don't get complacent. I'm still buying as much as I can and will try to do so until everyone is on-board.

Default Those are sales ranks, horrible figures

Think about what those lines mean, being sales ranks for the top 100 titles. An *average* sales rank of around 1500? Sales ranks are rather logarithmic, meaning that each change near to the top means a lot of units but the changes much lower in the ranks are reflecting very small numbers, so those lines make things look much closer than they really are. With that spread of salesrank Blu-Ray is massively outselling HD-DVD right now. It makes sense that sales would uptick a little as Amazon continues BOGO's and clears out some players, but it's not like it's ever going to climb back to where it was.

I still think Amazon sales figures are not very indicative of the market as a whole, so it's hard to say what is happening more generally. But those graphs are not in any way a good sign for HD-DVD despite the small upticks.

Warner made clear their reason for supporting Blu. The wanted a single next generation format that could be widely adopted. The figured that by supporting Blu-ray it would help bring the war to quick close. They are right. I am sure many HD DVD loyalists are buying Warner titles before they can no longer find them.

I think I'll stop checking this site more than once a week. Too much impatience.

Most of those players are being bought by people who already own HD-Dead as a second player.

I imaginne their disc #'s would go up slightly as they try to grab the soon to be rare titles. much like shooter is with many blu ray fans. so shall all the wb titles be.

The A3 is barely over $130. One might expect them to sell a few

And the software sales are peeps buying Warner while they still can

Just because Warner jump shipped does not mean I do not have a ripe addiction here...

I still buy Blu's at the rate I did before...

I only have 45...but I average more than 1 per week since I purchased my PS3 back in March...that's about an average rate considering all of the BOGO's and whatnot..

Did you think the numbers would just instantly drop? It is very telling though. If you check out the top 100 and notice how many Blu-ray titles are in the top 100. Now consider there is a Blu-ray sale going on and there is also an HD DVD sale going on. How many HD DVD titles are in the top 100? How far up are they? Not very high. Then, consider how many Blu-ray titles are in the top 100 that are NOT part of the sale and where they are located. You have Blade Runner, Planet Earth (which is much higher than the HD DVD version), 3:10 to Yuma.

Its going to be a little while, but eventually the numbers will be up there and the HD DVD numbers will start to drop.

If the stories of reducing B&M are true, that will mean Amazon and other online vendors will get an increasing share of the remaining business.

Planet Earth I noticed HAS NOT been the same since before Christmas. Blu-ray seems to have finally overtaken it, hopefully for good. It had to have been people mistaking it for the DVD, and/or the bad link from the Oprah site.

Exactly, it is selling much better now than it was before Christmas, meaning new Blu-ray owners or other people finally getting around to buying it. I still haven't bought it and I doubt I will since I found the whole thing to be rather tedious. I love nature programs, but fell asleep several times over the few weeks it was airing.

Exactly. When HD is dropped from B&M and Amazon continues to carry the numbers for Amazon will spike like crazy and if I know the consumer at all they'll go to the stores to get the instant gratification once Blu has more shelf space in the aisles, thus dropping Amazon's numbers.

I honestly couldn't give a rat's about the numbers on Amazon, weather Blu is winning or losing, that's about like asking 1 company to reflect the state of the US economy, very poor representation.

If I have company over I'll pop PE in and turn the volume off. It's nice to see the scenery in HD while talking amongst friends.
