Default Are theatrical releases going to be pushed back again?

Just wanted to see what others think.

Suicide Squad is being considered a flop. Not sure if that has to do with the film itself or is it related to the Delta variant? Are less people going to theaters again?

Clifford has been pushed back, so now I'm wondering if other studios will follow and push the big titles like No Time to Die and Ghostbusters once again?

You can only kick the can so far. The bigger question is will the theater have to close again.

I truly hope not. It seems like they are finally started to back to somewhat "normal", so it would be a huge hit if they closed again due to companies being fearful of films not doing well.

There isn't anything close to somewhat normal going on.

But hey whatever. Onward with the doom and gloom of theaters.

Where I'm at, pretty much everything feels like it's somewhat "normal" again in terms of everything being opened. Schools are reopening to fully in person, no capacity requirements, etc. Hell, traffic is actually worse than ever. There is still a mask mandate, but it seems like everyone is pretty much living their lives like they were before the pandemic. However, crime is at an all time high. Slowly turning into the wild west over here.

I love the theaters and hope they strive. I have a friend who now refuses to go the theaters because he has a large screen and surround sound. I asked him if he wanted to watch Suicide Squad in theaters, and instead said lets watch it at his house because "he has surround sound". Instead of debating with him, I just told him, I'd rather watch it in theaters.

I'm just genuinely curious to hear where others see things going.

I'm the kinda guy that goes like, never let your guard down. I don't know if that has something to do with me experiencing both Hurricane Katrina and COVID-19 as well. Anyway, enjoy yourselves, but always be prepared.

It's a three step process:

#1 Masks required

#2 Limited capacity (50% or less)

#3 Theaters are closed

We are at the beginning of #1. If #2 is mandated then Hollywood will once again reschedule their remaining 2021 movies into 2022. They can't make any money at 50% max capacity. If this happens then movie theaters have to look at their financials to see if it's worth staying open with reruns or just close to save money until the new Hollywood movies return.

I don't want to see The Last Duel and West Side Story postponed again but, if it happens, it happens.
