Default Blu-ray and HD-DVD

I have PS3 since the date that it came out. I am a big fan of Sony.
I also bought the HD-DVD player about 2 months ago because I wanted to see some movies that are in HD format such as Matrix, Bourne, Shrek.
Now WB is going to Blu-ray exclusively and they are going to have Matrix on Blu-ray. If Paramount/Dreamworks are going to Blu-ray too then they are going to do Shrek.

Question, how am I going to do next? The money that I and other people spent is going to be wasted. What will I do with the HD-DVDs?

Another question is, why WB is still going to have some movies in HD format because later on, after May, they are going to have only Blu-ray format.
Do they expect people to buy HD movies since they are leaving HD to go to Blu-ray exclusively.

Why don't both format stay in the market? If you like Universal movies then buy HD-DVD player? If you like Disney movies then buy Blu-ray player.
Low down the price of both format player then all consumers can affort to have both format players at home.

*****Additional*****
Don't get me wrong, I have about 40 Blu-ray movies and about 15 HD-DVD movies.
I love blu-ray, if there are both format of the movie I like, I picked Blu-ray.

***** Another thing is why you have PS3 and Xbox360 even they both play the same game and can't have Blu-ray and HD-DVD.*****
