firmware 1.1 and 2.0 - Blu-ray Forum

hi guys

im new to the forum but ive heard alot of talk about the 1.1 and 2.0 updates
what is it about? will it make my blu ray player obsolete? will it effect my PS3?

First off Welcome to the Blu side of the world..

Firmware Do NOT make your player obsolete its upgrades the operating system in your player.

What player do you have?...

the ps3 already has 1.1(if you have the latest update) and 2.0 has been anounced to be added through firmware update later this year. and welcome

I own 2 gen-1 standalones and it plays the latest titles w/o issue. Nope, won't get PiP content and won't get internet stuff.

Your PS3 is supposed to be future proof. Heck, I'd expect 3.0 support if I were you.

You BD-300 will be like my gen-1 players. No BonusView (PiP) and no dynamic catalogs for internet purchases.

sorry, i believe you mean profile? PS3's current profile is 1.1, while its current firmware is 2.10

It's upgradeable to profile 2.0 (Sony said later this year)

well thanks for the info guys, i am not so worried now cos i realy dont care about PiP or internet connectivity with movies, i just want to watch the movie in full HD

If you have the S300 your firmware should be 3.70 if its not you will have to do an update or you might have problem playinf certain movies.
