hello, i have a problem with my blue ray combo drive on the pc.
basically its a new dell studio 540 desktop, well relatively new bought it in oct 08. now i haven't bothered using the blue ray drive for actually watching movies until today. It's model number is DH-6E2S from what i can tell its made by philips/ Light on digital studios. i have searched the net high and low for firmware updates as the movies i bought today can no be read by my drive. i do have also blue ray capable playback software.. if anyone can help with this problem i would appreciate it. all the best Dj |

Are you sure it's the drive and not the player software?
What software are you using? *USUALLY* the OEM software - sucks. This applies to Dell, Sony, HP, all of them. On my VAIOs WinDVD BD will not play WALL-E(and a couple others). Get PowerDVD 8 Ultra or ArcSoft TotalMedia Theatre(My personal fav), you'll have fewer headaches. |

OEM software seems to have issues with newer discs... even with some older titles too. ![]() |

the point i was making is that the drive doesn't even recognise the media, never mind open it. hence why i need a firmware upgrade. in order for software to open a movie the drive has to at least read the media thats the problem i face, but i will try your suggestion.

Have you contacted Dell tech support to see if they have a firmware update for your drive?

I know ArcSoft TMT includes the Sonic UDF reader. With this, the drive can display what is in the drive when you go to My Computer. PowerDVD 8 Ultra doesn't(I don't think) but will play the discs fine. |
