Default Polk Audio RTi8

I'm looking to buy these speakers for my fronts and I'm curious to see who here has them and what they think of them?

I've listened to them a few times and I absolutely love the sound. I'm wondering more about build quality or any issues people have with them.

Also, if you can recommend some perhaps better speakers for around the same price (I can get a pair for $399 here) I'd appreciate it.

Thumbs up I have them!

(see my sig)

I've had these for about 4 years and absolutely love them!

I use my system 70% for movies, 25% for music, and 5% for gaming.

These speakers are well-balanced and smooth sounding to me. Most of my music listening is classical and jazz, so I am very picky and do not like a harsh or colored sound.

For future improvements, these speakers can also be bi-amped which improves the sound even more. (If your receiver has extra unused amp channels, it can add more power which is split between the high and low drivers. It results in better sound.)

They are quality-made solid cabinets with a nice finish. The RTi8's are a discontinued model (as Polk is introducing other lines). If you are interested in building up a complete home theater surround system you can't wait forever to acquire the center and rear surrounds (which I did). You will definitely want to voice-match your mains with a center channel (CSI-3 or CSI-5).

PolkAudio has a forum on their website and you can learn a lot about their speakers there.

Wow thanks for the help. That all sounds good to me.

Ya I heard they were discontinued. Replaced with the RTi 2008 models. That's why I'm getting the discontinued ones now since the prices have been slashed dramatically.

So if I get the RTi8's I have to get matching center and rears as well? Shoot I was planning on building the system over time.

I bought the RTi8's last year and I freakin' love them. I also have the CS1 center and a kenwood subwoofer. Even though I have a $300 Sony receiver, these speakers make my system seem way better than it actually is. I don't even have surround speakers because they are not needed. These speakers provide a crisp clear sound, that literally fills the room. When phones ring, or doorbells sound in movies, I think they are in my house, going off in another room. It's cool. BTW, if you like deep bass, you need a subwoofer, because these are not designed to have full bass, which was fine with me. As far as the rest of the spectrum, killer.

I have the RTi70, the previous model of the RTi8. Same design though, two 6 1/2" woofers and a silk dome tweeter. They friggin rock. I have had them for 5 years and they are as solid as a brick. Very deep bass response too for such small drivers. You can actually feel the bass from these towers, but don't skip a subwoofer, it is a necessary speaker in the setup!
