it's all going to come down to personal preference and what you like to hear! the two brands will sound completely different. the only way to know what to do will be to go and listen to the brands, thats the best advice i can give

yeah it's a toughie. what the return policy like from the stroe with the paradigms? the best way to tell if you will like them would be to buy them, get them home, set them up in your environment, get them dialed in and listen to them. if they are not right for you, repeat the steps again until you find the ones that will put a huge grin on your face every time you power them up with a lossless blu!

bookshelves can blow away floor standers for sure. look at the specs of the paradigms and compare them to the polks you are looking at. post them on here and we will be able to tell you which are the better ones, however i can already tell you that the paradigms are a higher quality speaker. Polks are awesome speakers but paradigms are very high quality

I would go with the paradigms. I currently own polk speakers and really like them, but if i had the money they would be replaced with paradigms or b&w's.

Keiths Light I agree with you, I mean my setup is great for the small space I have, but I would love to have a full paradigm setup. I love my polk audio speakers, but from what i have been reading the only speakers ...in my price range that i would buy aside from polks are paradigm.

Cool

I am new to this forum, but have been into audio for the last 22 years. I started where you are now, looking at mostly mass-market electronics. I've learned that price & specs sometimes mean nothing. I've been told over & over that you should let your ears decide. But sometimes you can't demo everything out there & expect to tell the difference in all the different stores. Sometimes you just want a direct answer to a seemingly simple question.

To answer your question as directly as possible, Paradigm is in a class above Polk. I have owned both. When set up properly, the Paradigms almost trick you into thinking you are wearing headphones, no matter where you're sitting in the room. No other speaker I've owned can reproduce this level of imaging.- including my current set!

As far as bookshelfs with a subwoofer vs. floorstanders alone: Not a realistic scenario. At this pricepoint, both still need a subwoofer, especially for movies. Plan accordingly.

You have already said that you love the Paradigm Titans. Paradigm only gets better from there.
