Question Anybody else like me, that haven't opened your steelbooks movies?

Im so anal i don't want to open any of my current 6 steelbooks. They look so nice and i just can't get myself to open them.

There are many collectors here who won't open their steelbooks. It's perfectly fine.

I myself open my steelbooks (to watch the movie). I'll also buy open steelbooks, since it's cheaper that way.

There are some steebooks I refuse to open.
Indiana Jones, Transformers ROTF, Iron Man MM..
A whole lot more. But like the Alliance steels Sin City and Memento I've opened mainly cuz I have no desire to sell them. Have to keep in mind they do lose a bit of value when opened. Yet it's awesome to open and see the inside of a steel that has gorgeous artwork. It's a dilemma. You could always buy 2 of each like I do at times, but a fortune is what it costs

i open all my steelbooks. i just think they look better without the cardboard on it and all that. i however do not watch the movies they are in cause i buy reg Blu's to watch and steels are just for collecting. i have yet to open salt but thats due to the fact i'm not sure if i'm going to like the movie or not. if i like it i will open it and keep it in my collection, if i dislike someone on here will be getting it

Javo makes a good point, there certain steels that you just can't open but regular steel like Alliance, or Warner steels are ok since they are only like $20-25 anyways...and it does cost a fortune especially for Javo he probably receives like 90 steelbooks a week or at least it seems like it..lol

if you keep them sealed,i recommend that you keep it that way because if you open them, more than 50 % of those will have imperfections that will just ruin it for you big time.
i myself,open them

if i want to watch the movie, i have to open my steelies. cant afford two copies. i buy them cause i like the movie and look great on my shelf. its like when i was collecting comic books back in the 80s. we all thought these overpriced and overprinted comics would be worth something one day (granted - some are). dont get me wrong, i love my steelies, but if people think these tin cases are going to be worth something in 20 years, think again. you wanna make an investment - buy stocks, bonds, or cds.

Maybe not in 20 years, but in the short run they dont seem to lose you money anyway.
I still have a DVD of Army of Darkness Limited Canadian edition, 1 of 4000 made. Seems it is rare and prices from $50 to $150 on ebay.
Until they come up with a new video format I think the limited runs the steels have will make the value only go up.

i get them for my son. he enjoys watching them and checking out the inside art if they have any, the front and rear cover art without the cardboard and plastic wrapping, and the printed art on the disc(s). he opens them all.

I know many collectors keep their Steels sealed, but I opened all of mine! Firstly, there's a film inside it to watch and many of mine that I bought, I had not seen the film beforehand. Secondly, I personally do not believe you can admire your Steel as much if it is sealed, it's like buying a TV and not ever turning it on! I understand keeping it mint, but I do this already, I take great care with my Steels and my regular Blus (like to keep them all mint!).

If I did own Iron Man FS etc, I would probably keep those sealed, but that's mainly due to it's value, especially if I wanted to sell them in the future.

I used to open them when I started buying them but now I'm all paranoid about scratches and now keep them sealed. I'm also starting to double dip and triple dip.

Yeah i was thinking about double dipping as well. But why triple dipping? So you can keep one sealed, open one, and perhaps sell the 3rd one sealed?

PS:
Your blu-ray collection looks AWESOME!
