Default PS3 as a wedding gift

My close buddy is getting married. He lives in Tampa, I'm in Toronto. He's an average joe, rather clueless about tech. He has a new HDTV, he just uses it to watch HD channel. He doesn't play games. He's getting married this July. The wedding will be in Singapore. He expects some cash or some boring household stuff. But I'm sending him a PS3, a couple of games, DMC4 and Ninja Gaiden Sigma, and a couple of blu-rays.

What do you guys think of my idea? ....I specially pick the 2 hardest games out there

Don't forget include a HDMI cable in your gift package. Otherwise for average non-tech people, I will expect he would watch blu-ray on composite cable:P.

I did they same thing for my brother when he got married. If you have some time left see if anyone is offering a package to see if you can get any extra stuff for a better price.

I'd say jump right in and do it, but don't forget to get his better half a game she might enjoy.

Yeah, you need to think about the wife and how you can establish a good relationship with her. As I get older and NEVER get to see my good friends, I realize that much of the reason is because I didn't put enough effort into becoming the wife's friend. I was recently a groomsman at a buddy's wedding and wanted to get him a PS3 but ended up getting them a Sonicare toothbrush with two heads, so they can feel like I care about both of them equally.

I even wrote in the card, "be true to your teeth or they'll be false to you".

Make sure one of the Blu-rays is a romantic comedy so she can enjoy the gift too. You know, something like Hostel II.

Haha. Unless she's a fan of horror, you're looking to sink that relationship like the Titanic.

The Raffles is nice. Across the street is the Stamford (I think it's a Swissotel property now) and is a primo spot if you are there over Chinese New Year. I as on the 86th floor watching the fireworks a few years back. Singapore is a great town. Be sure to hit the bar in the Raffles ad have a Sinpore Sling - it was invented there. They'll charge you a premium for the pleasure.
