Depends where they sourced the masters from. The original Australian theatrical release had DTS-HD, but it's also missing about 20 seconds from the end of Planet Terror which causes a sync glitch before the fake trailers.

Anybody know if this'll have normal English subtitles? Every release worldwide of Planet Terror extended cut has only SDH subtitles, but no normal English subtitles..

I'd expect everything in this set to be direct ports of existing releases.

Wolf Creek wasn’t, which is a bad thing in that case (albeit only for audio) but could be a good thing in this case.

As long as they don't port the US disc of the theatrical version The Aussie one does have the weird error in the middle but that's less egregious than lossy audio. The optimal outcome would be if they use the US video master with re-encoded DTS-HDMA audio.

20 seconds of entirely missing footage is less egregious than 100% of the audio being present, just in lossy format? You and I have radically different takes on the word “egregious”.

It's just ~20 seconds* of "damaged film" between the end of Planet Terror's credits and the "Previews" title card. Slightly annoying, but it doesn't affect the viewing experience for the main features.

*(measurement isn't precise since this is only from comparing the length to other releases, which vary from 18 to 24 seconds longer)

To be fair, a randomly missing segment of film is 100% fitting with what Tarantino and Rodriguez were going for with the Grindhouse experience, so, while not their intent, I almost guarantee they would find that a true tribute to the grindhouse experience.

From Via Vision Facebook page.

“We’ve been overwhelmed with demand for our October limited editions – it’s proof that physical media is alive and well!

To cater for demand, we are increasing our pressings to 1250 copies of DRAG ME TO HELL, and 2000 copies for GRINDHOUSE. Every copy is individually numbered. Once these sell out, there will not be any additional units made available.”

Stock of this has essentially been wiped out from JB Hi-Fi today since the 20% off sale has started. Only store showing stock online is one in Victoria. Yesterday there were upwards of 40 stores showing stock. I’d be shocked if it didn’t get another release without the lenticular hardcase but anyone who wants this configuration shouldn’t waste any time picking it up.

Via Vision’s website still has the product showing as a pre-order for some reason so no clue what their stock levels are like.

Just letting anyone in the states know that this is available to order through Movies Unlimited with a 25% off code (MU23NOV). I ordered it along with Drag Me To Hell.

I found a copy in Geelong JB’s when I was in there earlier today.
