Dragging out the Yojimbo/Fistful story into a season of TV is like countless TV drama series with criminals, with everyone backstabbing everyone. Apart from the Western setting (oh wait Deadwood), this ain't going to be all that original.

Grr...there’s no point to doing this. Last Man Standing did it again in the 90’s.
If anything the adaptation should be of the original source inspiration Dashiell Hammett’s Red Harvest. Adapting the novel could have more material to turn into a show versus trying to expand on the already perfect Yojimbo and Fistful. |

It will probably be one of millions of TV shows that never get beyond development. Amazing to see how many shows seem stuck in an endless development stage. http://www.thefutoncritic.com/devwatch/

I don't have a problem with this. However, good luck finding legendary talent and unique faces like Gian Maria Volonté, Aldo Sambrell, Lee Van Cleef and Klaus Kinski.

It isn't going to be a western. It will use contemporary settings and actors. It's the story that will remain the same. BTW - Lee Van Cleef was not in A Fistful Of Dollars.

I'm aware. I was just saying in a way that I doubt this show isn't gonna have the dirty, sweaty, scruffiness and grit that those actors had throughout that whole trilogy. Everyone in A Fistful of Dollars and the rest of the trilogy seem to have their own unique appearance and an ominous quiet demeanor you never really see in showbiz anymore.
A contemporary retelling of the story sounds boring to me already, I expect they'll use up and coming actors that'll be recognizable from another tv show or movie they were in. I don't know... that's just how I feel. /shrug |
