I mentioned this in another thread, but I didn't know they were still open. Turns out, there were quite a few in my city and surrounding cities. Nutty.

Sad face.

Although not a family video I did come across a video rental store while passing through the country on a trip some years ago. I signed up for a membership and rented a movie during my hotel stay just for the hell of it.

So there might be a few more stores out there for those curious. I personally wished we had more around but if this is what the consumer wants then so be it.

Sad. I pass by a few of them on my daily route down in the IL area. I think up here in Madison, there's still one in Sun Prairie.

Kids growing up will never know the feeling of raiding a stores of rental videos, searching for unseen gems every weekend.

Streaming is ruining all that was good in the movie renting world.

Sad thing is it seems like that without the pandemic they'd have survived much longer, and maybe even been able to pivot their business model to something more successful.

I first went there back 2013. It was nice and reminded me of Hollywood video.

I really don't get how streaming is any better then this when all of your choices are based on what service you have. Even then you still lose all the extras having a physical rental allows you to have.

I wonder how successful their online movie/TV sales are? I am guessing not that significant but seems like they could close their rental business and focus on selling discs and merchandise? You know, compete with the FYEs and Amazons of the world.

Whenever I drove by them their sign was advertising CBD rather than movies. Never bothered with them.
