I love the play this is based on, and I’ve been meaning to check this film out. We actually watched the TV movie with Sean Combs in school which is really well-done. I enjoy Sidney Poitier’s work, so this is a film I might appreciate.

It's an excellent film; I thought this would of got a Twilight Time release but Criterion is always welcomed! If we can get "The Bedford Incident" and "A Patch of Blue", I'll be one happy camper.

I finally watched this for the first time tonight. Really powerful, painful, but also beautiful film, full of excellent performances. If only Lorraine Hansberry could have told exactly the story she wanted to tell in exactly the way she wanted, but even with that caveat, it's a remarkable work that rings of truth and sincerity. And you never don't know when Sidney Poitier is on-screen. What a presence in everything he ever did.

My favourite Sidney Poitier movie. The Criterion release is great!

I remember watching the movie he starred with with Tom Berenger and Clancy Brown a few times when I was younger - Deadly Pursuit?

Didn't realise he had passed away until I saw this thread

If anyone is wanting, A Raisin in the Sun, and doesn’t want to wait for a sale. My Barnes had it on display with a 30% off sticker and the Barnes membership card worked and took an additional 10% off.
