Default isf calibration question

i have a mitsubushi 73" dlp (73732) i was wondering if getting a isf calibration would worth the money. my picture on my blu ray player is great already. how better could it be with the calibration. thanks for any info

Sorry, I can't answer your question, but I'd like to add to it. I tried (my best) to calibrate my LCD last night (using a Few Good Men). I think I did ok. I am curious though... Can I do it incorrectly, and if I do it incorrectly, can I harm my tv in any way?

An ISF calibration and a disc calibration are 2 different things.

ISF calibration on a DLP, they will actually take your set apart and make sure everything is focused perfectly

IF you've got the scratch for a 73" set, I'd say dropping the $300 on an ISF caibration would be well worth it

I tweak my computer settings all the time with no harm

when foreground stands out then i know i got it perfect

I find video looks awesome when bright levels are in the minus area whether its minus 5 or -1
but with movies like happy feet i lower bright and contrast so the white doesn't look over blown

doing it by eye alone, you will most likely do it incorrectly...but you may like how it looks, so nothing wrong with that. although using a disc or proffesional isf calibration will greatly achieve a closer to intended picture.

as far as hurting your set...not really. Just try not to keep brightness and contrast set way too high.

there is a dedicated (stickied) calibration thread in the 'display' section if you have any more inquiries.
